I love Coburn, but I think he is going to be the target for most teams also looking for D, ala Edmonton and the like.

My first objective is trading Vinny though. I feel bad for him, but he was never going to a be a good fit here long-term anyhow, too many centers already. Maybe package him, Laughton, the 17th, and maybe Grossmann for the 1st and minor assets in return? lol.

I think he would have had better season with Lavi system. Plus he had old man back problems. I feel bad for him too bc I was so excited when we signed him

I think it's about in line. B Schenn (assuming you meant him) gives them some sorely-lacking offensive pop up front and gives them 2 first-round picks in a pretty decent, level draft. Josi's good, but the backbone of their defense is gonna be (presumably) Weber and Jones.

I was unaware of a chronic concussion issue. He played in 72 games last year and all 48 the year before.

I remember him having issues in 2012, and in Europe. All I'm saying is that's a lot to give up for someone who may or may not be a hit away from missing time due to a concussion.

While I think Josi is a great player with tons of upside, I personally think Schenn could/will offer up much more than Josi will. Josi can put up numbers, but can he be a shut-down man as well?

It may perk up the ears of the Blues, but I think you'd need to add a prospect to make that happen. A legit prospect like Laughton, Ghost or Morin

Edit: I don't see why the Blues would be trading him. He's the type of guy you'd need to overpay for because they have no need to move him.

That is the question. I got to watch the Preds about 10 times last year and that guy seemed to be omnipresent.

I would make the trade as is. I feel Josi is more valuable than B. Schenn and a 1st rounder and hope his defense is respectable.

Pretty much. The Ducks had incentive to move Pronger (age, FA in a year, team rebuild) and they still garnered a large haul.

The only young, #1 defenseman I see being available is Subban because he'll want to break the bank. Even that's unlikely.

An interesting note on Spezza. The Sens blog is saying that NSH is on his no trade list. To me I like that because if Vinny is willing to go to NSH is keeps one player from NSH trying to aquire Spezza. So then maybe Vnny can become an option for them. i know, just a theory.
