For years, Crosby and Malkin needed snipers, but the Pens focused more on team depth. Finally, they got their snipers and the depth took a hit. Now, the team is worse than before. |

I remember him having issues in 2012, and in Europe. All I'm saying is that's a lot to give up for someone who may or may not be a hit away from missing time due to a concussion. - Flyers_V88
Every player is just a hit away from career ending injury. It's hockey.

Tell me again how he is tradeable. We can just add him to a long line of players we traded to teams that actually win. |

An interesting note on Spezza. The Sens blog is saying that NSH is on his no trade list. To me I like that because if Vinny is willing to go to NSH is keeps one player from NSH trying to aquire Spezza. So then maybe Vnny can become an option for them. i know, just a theory. - J35Bacher
If they can get any sort of respectable haul for Vinny I will dance in the Streets of Philllllllllladelphiaaa luh luh luhluhluhluh.... |

It may perk up the ears of the Blues, but I think you'd need to add a prospect to make that happen. A legit prospect like Laughton, Ghost or Morin
Edit: I don't see why the Blues would be trading him. He's the type of guy you'd need to overpay for because they have no need to move him. - PhillySportsGuy
Well, they don't NEED to move him, but thinking from their perspective if they want to get past the 1st or 2nd round they need to start upgrading their offense. Because their D has been fantastic and it hasn't put them over the top. And if they are not going to move Pietrangelo then Shattenkirk would bring the best return for a young center to add to the mix like Schenn. They could always move Boumeester too, but again, the return might not be quite as great probably since he's a bit older and makes more money. I don't know from the Flyers side if I would want to move Laughton in the same deal if you're trading Schenn. I'd consider Schenn, 1st, and Hagg. I think Ghost and Morin have the most upside and I'd rather not make a deal involving them. |

Pretty much. The Ducks had incentive to move Pronger (age, FA in a year, team rebuild) and they still garnered a large haul.
The only young, #1 defenseman I see being available is Subban because he'll want to break the bank. Even that's unlikely. - PhillySportsGuy
The only top-pair guy I could really see moving this summer at all would be Byfuglien. |

You have to trade s player with potential to get any kind of decent return. Do you really expect a team to trade a potential star defensemen without getting a legitimate player back? |

I do not think anyone on here is saying trade him just to trade him. Trading Schenn for a young impact defenseman is worth it. Any other scenario probably is not. |

I think if they just move the contract without retaining any cap hit, or more than 1 million cap hit you should be thrilled. I wouldn't expect more than that. |

I never said I wouldn't be thrilled.
I did say, however, if they trade him for anything better than a 3rd I'll be lost in a sea of euphoria |

You aren't allowed to bring up Williams and Sharp. Plus the returns on both guys were humongous big. |

You can bring them up whenever you want just make sure you bring up other trades at some point where the Flyers got one over on the other team. The incessant negativity is the issue. Not the Sharp or Williams lament.

How about LeCLair being a throw in the Desjardins-Recchi deal. The Coburn deal. That's just off the top of my head. |
