Well, they don't NEED to move him, but thinking from their perspective if they want to get past the 1st or 2nd round they need to start upgrading their offense. Because their D has been fantastic and it hasn't put them over the top. And if they are not going to move Pietrangelo then Shattenkirk would bring the best return for a young center to add to the mix like Schenn. They could always move Boumeester too, but again, the return might not be quite as great probably since he's a bit older and makes more money. I don't know from the Flyers side if I would want to move Laughton in the same deal if you're trading Schenn. I'd consider Schenn, 1st, and Hagg. I think Ghost and Morin have the most upside and I'd rather not make a deal involving them. - FlyerAdam30
They have guys like Tarasenko and Schwartz who are ready to become big time scorers in the near future.
If they wanted to move Shattenkirk, I think they would want to get back a dynamic young forward. They'd want someone like a Logan Couture or Joe Pavelski. |

I said it was a theory. that's all. Maybe they are. But if they aren't, it takes one player off their list of available players. - J35Bacher
Yeah, just leaves Brad Richards, Stastny, Marleau, Kesler, Thornton, Kadri, Eric Staal, Gagner, and god knows who else to fall back on.
Crazy as it sounds, it's shaping up to be a buyer's market for top-six centermen this summer. |

How about LeCLair being a throw in the Desjardins-Recchi deal. The Coburn deal. That's just off the top of my head. - mickel25
And then getting Recchi back for Zubrus.

kinda over everybody saying "move one of grossmann or schenn"
one is an older dude one twisted ankle or knee away from retiring and the other is a young guy for whom we gave up a pretty good asset... unless luke's trade value is a lot higher than i am thinking it is right now it damn well better be grossmann going |

Patrick Sharp @ 26yrs old thru 4 pro seasons 39g 34a 73p 193 games played

Tell me again how he is tradeable. We can just add him to a long line of players we traded to teams that actually win. - ICUBB

Just my 2 pesos, but just because the Blues had kind of an unlucky draw in the first round of the playoffs last year, I don't think they are dumb enough to panic and simply trade Kevin Shattenkirk.

Williams was banged up & becoming labeled as injury prone. The team needed defense in the worst way that post season(Kapanen on the point). Markov was a good pick up but they fell short of the cup.
Sharp put up those points mostly as a 4th line player under a defensive minded Hitchcock.
Schenn has those numbers playing mostly on offensively focused lines & 2nd PP unit situations.
With the development of Laughton, Schenn might be the 5th best center(G, Coots, VL, Laughton) for this team next season. If he can't adapt to wing play it is best to get something for him & not eat salary than waste cap space & get back less for Vinny. Vinny had 4 less points playing in 13 less game & at time playing with Rinaldo for 8 minutes a game. Also when he played with Schenn & Simmond they had no puck skills on line rushes or passing out of the corner/off the boards. |

Ken Hitchcock did not like Patrick Sharp and practically paid for his plane ticket to Chicago himself.

I kinda figured the Flyers wouldn't move Coburn, but I'm still not sure that is what they shouldn't do (with a mini-rebuild) to become cup contenders. |

Also, the trade that brought Leino here and the decision not to resign him. The Mason trade. The decision to sign Jagr. |

Also,
@TSNBobMcKenzie: BUF puts Ville Leino on unconditional waivers for purpose of buyout.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: VAN puts David Booth on unconditional waivers for purpose of buyout.
Any interest? Cause there is a good chance they will be cheap. |

I saying no way to both. I haven't watched a lot of Sabres games but Booth shouldn't even have dressed the second half of last season. |

Maybe. I remember liking Booth's speed before Mike Richards put him into next week.
I'll always have a soft spot for Ville Leino from his work in the 2010 playoffs. I don't know if he'd fit in with what Berube does. |

Booth looked like such a promising player in Florida.
Was it the Richards hit or was he just not as good as I remembered? |

I don't know if it was the hit but he isn't that promising player any more. He's a step slower and he just doesn't see the ice all that well. |

Not sure he was ever that good... just another case of a guy who played an elevated role on really bad teams and managed to turn that into cash. |

With a player like that, in my view, at the most you give an invite to camp on a tryout. Not sign him to a contract that you have to account for in taking a chance. |

That could be. It's been awhile since I've seen him play and I admit to not closely monitoring him or anything.
My memory of him in FLA was a guy who played with a lot of pace who seemed to play in lots of different, tough situations. Of course, I could be misremembering. |
