Yeah I agree. Buffalo doesn't have to overpay for anybody. We're terrible and everybody and their mother knows we are rebuilding. Plus Colorado almost has to trade him. The onus is on Colorado to move him bcz fairly good teams might offer sheet him and then they only get mid level 1st's. Not that that is terrible but it doesn't help a contender right now. - joshs
You make good points...
But I still think we'll have to win a bidding war
Toronto, for example, prob offers Phaneuf (maybe +) or Kadri + Gardner
Unfortunately,
I'm sure the AVs would have us all bidding against each other
The price might actually get too high
I really like ROR though
Things should really start to heat up around the league after this weekend...
Should be fun! |

Decline at 28??!?
This whole 'young mans game' thing has been taken way too literally. In many many cases, prime years go till 34 and dont even start till 25.
Defencemen have been known to play some of their best hockey post 30.
Goalies even more so.
I think we've found way more young players getting more of a shot to make a difference at 21,22.
But this shouldnt suggest players at 33 cant be equally or even more effective - hugefemale dog77
He started at age 18 with players like him they start to Decline Early . |

IMO Cody plus is going to Winnipeg for Kane.
Makes sense as Murray wants another 1st from a team to take on salary.
And Winnipeg want multiple 1st's
Cody, say 22, 39, and StL 1st in 2015 makes an interesting offer for Kane.
(add where is needed). - dadeadhead
I think a team like Winnipeg is gonna want guys that can play now
I feel like they desperately wanna make the playoffs
So Hodgson +
Stewart? Stafford? Foligno? Ennis?
If u had a choice and we could only acquire E.Kane or ROR, and the price would be roughly the same...
Which would u rather have?

Agreed
He has the aurora of being physical because of what he does defensively.
He's a much better version of Drury IMO.
Like I said last night, I'd like to see him on Buffalo. The issue is the cost to get him and the cost in contract.

Nah... Callahan wishes he had the self life of ROR even at the same age.
Just an IMO but Cally can't hold ROR's jock.
One has talent and drive while the other just has the drive. The one that has just the drive will be a 3rd liner in 3 years if he's lucky. The one that has both will be instrumental in bringing a cup to his team. |

Any player would that was drafted by Atlanta and moved to Winnipeg.

his price tag will be high ( contract ) but i'm ok with it |

I don't know lots of reports call him a huge problem..
i just don't think we have the right supporting cast to handle him if things go south ..
if andrew ladd can't get to him who can on the sabres ? |

One is 23 and entering his prime, the other is 29 and his prime is gone.
I'm not happy with paying either 7+ mil. That said if they have the choice, ROR is 10x's the option as Ryan "If he weren't from WNY" Callahan.
Sorry but the game Callahan plays is the guy they needed in 05/06 or 06/07. Now he's the last guy this organization needs. |

E.Kane has a skill set that's really hard to find
When (if) he gets his head straight...
He'll be the best power forward in the league
u could prob argue that he's already top5

I think you're selling Cally short,
But it does make sense to think that his play will start to decline in a few years bc of the style of game he plays
Signing him long term is tough
I doubt he'd come here anyways though
Vinny? Briere? I'd even take Gionta
I do need some type of leadership for these young guys

I just threw some names out there
I'd guess there's others that would work out too
But I can't have Stafford as this teams Captain
Or a guy like Ehrhoff who (it seems) doesn't wanna be here
And I DEF do not wanna give it to a young guy before he's ready
Every damn time Brown is supposedly about to get traded to us, LA goes on a run & wins the damn Cup!
Hahaha
There's no way he's getting moved now
