Stamkos, a generational player. Yes? No? - ImThatGuy
Yes, he's just been in a situation where he hasn't gotten deep in the playoffs with his team. IE see Sidney Crosby 2010-2014. |

Absolutely. I'd take him over Ovi and I'd consider Ovi a generational talent as well. |

Yes. I would put Tavares up there as well. Imagine if he had a malkin? |

Personally I'd reserve that moniker for someone who plays a more complete game.
he's definitely an amazing goal scorer, but his limited PK time makes me say no to the "player" part of the praise. |

I would not put Tavares up there. All-star yes, generational talent, no.
Stamkos had 3 staraight 40+ goal seasons. 2 of those were 50+, 1 being 60. Averages over 1 PPG. All under the age of 25.
Tavares high is 31. Averages .9 PPG |

Were grading him on talent, not production. I stand by my statement. If you watch the guy play he's a more complete player than Stamkos.

Tavares easily, think he's a better leader and I have some bias due to his dad being a lax god in BUF
I do agree that stamkos is a better pure scorer and point producer though. I just think JT is a better player overall. |

Toews
Kane
Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Mackinnon
I would definitely take those guys over Ovi. |

For Me it is Stamkos. The goal of this game is to score more than the other team. Stamkos gets you that, year in and year out.
His production far outweighs the intangibles that Tavares brings, IMO.
To me its an easy decision, Stamkos. |

Agree to disagree, both great players! Maybe i'm throwing generational talent around too loosely, but I love JT's game. |

There are 4 other players on the ice that can take up any defensive slack. |

I did have 5 in there but changed it . I think it was Millers influence that did it. |

Stamkos, a generational player. Yes? No? - ImThatGuy
First, let me say that I am NOT picking on you, starting with you, etc., but I think we are throwing this word "generational" around a bit too loosely lately.
Generational Talent - a player for the ages, one who can do things with a puck that no other player would even contemplate doing. Very, very few players will be deserving of this rating, probably one per decade.
Is Stamkos one? Probably not.
Malkin? Probably not.
Kane? No.
Tavares? Nil (for all of us Futbol fans enjoying this World Cup immensely!).
Show me an Orr, Gretzky, Crosby, etc. and then we'll talk.
