LA wasn't shy about taking Russians when Hexy was w/ them... five in the last six drafts... hopefully that carries over here. If Barbashev didn't have knocks on him due to his nationality, size and consistency, I think he'd be right up there w/ Nik Ehlers in the rankings.

When you have Drew Doughty in the lineup you can have Matt Greene playing third pairing minutes. Who's the Flyers version of Doughty?

Agreed. I think Boyle is a decent player, he played very well in the playoffs and made himself some money.

He does have some polish to his game for sure. The skill is there. I think the Flyers have always avoided Russian forwards based on issues with perceived work ethic. If Barbashev is there, I would be fine with them selecting him.

I heard them interview Hextall on NHL radio a little bit ago.
While he did not get real specific, he did say with the D on the Flyers, some of the older guys contracts would be coming up right when he expects the 3 prospects may be ready to jump in and start.

If they stick with it out with Grossmann and Coburn for the next two years, while the prospects are developing that would not be worse then making a bad trade now giving up young forwards or high picks in an attempt for a quick fix.

I am enjoying the Grossmann love in here today.
I do think he and Streit looked a lot better towards the end of the season.

They were so bad together for a long stretch. They looked a lot better by the end of the season. I still think the lack of mobility hurts them. I've always preferred Streit with Amac.

I would like to keep Coburn past 2 years.

I'd eat 1mill from each, no more. That would be 7 mill coming back our way and 6 mill exiting (Vinny 4.5 + Grossman 3.5=8-2mill=6).

That extra mill we would be taking back alone would be a big deal.
