There's nothing new to report on contract talks between Steve Ott and the St. Louis Blues.
It looks like he'll be available as an unrestricted free agent in July and Craig Custance of ESPN believes Ott could end up back with the Buffalo Sabres. Ott was the captain of the team before he was traded to the Blues as part of the Ryan Miller deal. |

They're saying the same thing about Moulson. I'd take them both back as long as Ott is slotted on the 3rd line at most.

That Letang contract isn't nearly as bad as it is made out to be.
Just wait for the big contracts on the horizon. The new CBA has ushered in a new era for what is and isn't an acceptable cap hit. Cap may not hit 71M next year but it is still going to continue to rise each and every year, and some years by about 2 or 3M.
PK Subban's next contract is going to start with a 9. Toews and Kane have a better than 50% chance of theirs starting with a 10.
The circumvention contract is dead. You have to pony up for high end talent.
Kris Letang hasn't had a great past 12 months but his larger sample size points to a guy who drives play and produces offense.
I'm hard on him at times because I think his ceiling is incredibly high but he had a knee injury, an elbow infection, and a stroke last year. I'm not really sure that is the season where I want to make strong judgment about the future of his career.
As far as the Penguins cap situation, my blog tomorrow will show how easy they can get by next year even without dropping Scuderi or Fleury (both of whom I would get rid of). |

This because of that (if that makes any sense ).
I've always like Letang and if the penguins were truly ever interested in "getting rid of him and his contract" I would hope the sabres would be in on it. I wouldn't overpay for him given the health concerns but I'd love to see him here. |

I guess the question I have is why would the Penguins sell him off at his lowest point? It's bad business. Much like extending Matt Niskanen at his highest point is bad business. |

My thought exactly, really doesn't make any sense unless they were considering another move that brought in a player(s) with a high cap hit.
Hypothetically what would the asking price be? |

And TSN takes Reinhart - So which sports network has better experts ?
I would rather go with the sure thing that has Hockey smarts . He can work on his skating at the Harbor center

That was from Craig Button a smart guy, but one guy. Sportsnet at least used quotes and opinions from current NHL scouts and personnel directors to come to their collective opinion to come to their top thirty. Button has been out of the actual GM and scouting Biz for awhile. |

Diitto. I have no desire to bring back either one, I bet TM doesn't either unless they fit within his plan. |
