He put up some decent numbers with Weber, Suter et all but those numbers were still far off of what Rinne or even Vokoun had I believe. Since joining TB his sv% is sub .900 |

No matter who they eventually decide to sign as the backup goalie, I really hope they can get him for a cap hit of no more than 1.1 million. |

His SV% in 23 GP was .891. That's terrible. |

I won't even lie: I'm borderline terrified at the backup goaltenders that are available.
The only one I trust is Emery, because of his toughness. All these other guys make me want to bury my head in my hands |

I think the Flyers should take a low-risk shot at signing TJ Brennan. D-men usually take quite a bit longer to develop and it would likely be low-cap signing. |

It also assumes that these two take far less than their last contract gave them to play in Philly. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 2014-15 Schedule, Brennan, Backup Goalie and More - bmeltzer
I really had hoped Alex Stalock would get to UFA. He would have been my top target.
I'd still consider Emery, but he'd need to take a rather significant paycut. I like Greiss, Al Montoya & Chad Johnson. I don't want Lindback. Guys like Devan Dubnyk or Evgeni Nabaokov would be interesting at a cheap price.
As for Brennan, if he were to agree to a $600k or so deal, sure, sign him. He'd really be little more than a depth guy for the system, but there's nothing wrong with adding an AHL vet(who is a really good player at the level) to help the Phantoms and restore them to a winning team. |

It would be akin to having a Syvret in the system again... |

Yeah. I really thought about what Hextall said about having a winning team in the AHL, so kids developing there get used to winning games.

Brian Connelly is the other guy I would bring in for that purpose... he's even more like Syvret (think Brennan's more like Delmore). |

Signing Mark Fayne has grown on me. A right d-man, who I would hope could play with Coburn to eat up the tough minutes at 5 on 5. He doesn't need to be a big point producer because of Kimmo and Streit running the PP. Fayne averaged almost 2:00 of SH time. He would help Kimmo fresh. Also, he has the size Hexy I think would value on the blueline. |

I'm more familiar with Brennan, but Connelly seems like the type of guy to target, for sure. |

If they could deal Vinny and Grossmann for picks, sign Fayne and a guy like Kulemin, I'd be happy with the off season |

It's important, I feel -- it's not the only thing that matters, but anybody who has ever played sports realizes that extended winning or losing breeds good or bad habits |
