How much truth is there in the rumor that the Flyers are interested in Phaneuf? I know he's been rumored to every team in the NHL but I'm sure he'd be a good top pairing fit for the Flyers?
How about Phaneuf for Brayden Schenn..........the reason I say Schenn is I'm thinking he's looking for a contract in the neighbourhood of $3.2 - $3.75 for 4-5 years and I thinking Laughton could be ready to take over those duties adequately?
Toronto then also take's Lecavalier's full salary.....
And Philly then need's to throw in the 17th pick or Morin in order to offset Lecavalier's salary.
Philly gets rid of Lecavalier's salary, and gets that ellusive top pairing defenceman.

If Homer were still GM, that might be a real off season. |

I agree with most of this except for Lindback. Anyone can steal a game, but there are lots of better options. A guy like Chad Johnson would be fantastic as a backup. - jmatchett383
Ya, maybe as I said Lindbeck lost them a few too, actually if Emery resigned I wouldn't mind either. I feel like this team needs a few years of consistency, no more huge trades. Just let the core grow and play together with wingers that they have some chemistry with. I'd also like to see Laughton, Leier, Ghost and Hagg all play a year in the AHL together unless someone absolutely lights up training camp/preseason |

Personally JUST trading the 17th pick or Morin for Phaneuf would be a terrible deal for the Flyers. I'd rather have Vinny as an expensive 4th liner, which I still think he can play top 6 with a healthy back, than to give up assets just to rid salary.

No to Lindback and Curtis McIlhinney. Lindback is not good and proved he can not be relied on if Mason goes down and Curtis McIlhinney was weak. That awesome goal Giroux scored was pretty weak on the goalies part. Any real NHL goalie stops that shot. |

Trade Vinny for a 3rd or 4th rounder while retaining some salary.
Trade Grossmann for a pick and/or mid-level prospect.
Sign Raymond to add speed on the wings, slot him on the 3rd line with Couturier and Raffl.
Sign Greiss or Peters for cheap, give Mason 65 starts.
Re-sign BSchenn for a decent cap hit, decent length.
Sign Fayne, or go big and sign Niskanen and hope he isn't a 1-year wonder.
Unless Laughton sh!ts the bed in camp, give him a slot on the 4th line to start the season. Leave all the other kids in the AHL/Junior leagues for another year. |

Raymond has speed we desperately need and has proven he can produce when given ice time with talented players.
I don't see why Montoya wouldn't be good here? He's posted good numbers in Winnipeg. But even if it's someone else, as long as they come in around 1 mill we'll be fine. |

Dubnyk had a couple good years with the oil as far as save %, but his salary too high for a benchwarmer. |

He'd be a big risk at back-up I think. I wouldn't hate it, but I would like to see the organization add another goalie to the Phantoms if that's the case. |

Raymond would be OK but he is likely getting overpaid this yr.
If the could sign him for no more than 2 years and under 2.5M per yr he would be fine.
I get the feeling he will get a 3 yr 3m deal from someone which is too much I think.
He tends to disappear for long stretches.
Agree they need more speed on the wings.
He's a bit small IMO to play 1st line with G.

Agreed! I think I'd even rather take a shot at giggy. He's old but still cheaper then emery AND he's leaning towards retiring. He will Probally only want a one year deal which works for both parties. We don't have to commit 2-3 years to a backup and he can retire after 2015 season if he pleases. His save % has been above 900 most of his career, could do worse. |
