Schenn was just extended in Philly, so those of you who kept mentioning his name, time to move on.

2 years, $2.5 million cap hit. That's pretty reasonable.

Blake, Forsberg, Hasek, Modano lead 2014 Hall class

- Beaver-Warrior

I always loved Forsberg. Even when he was at the end of his career, I hoped the Hawks would sign him, just so I could have a Forsberg jersey.

Pretty solid class going in.

Been on these boards for going on 8 years-damn- do not post much, but wanted to share my sympathies with all of you on a tough WCF. It must have been rough to be at the game, but what was worse is living in LA (bad enough as it is, except the weather, and my job), surrounded by Kings "fans", and having to witness them demolish the Rangers- AND have a co-worker (whose husband works for the kings) and former students of mine text me pictures of them and the cup from that night. Thankfully I was out of the city for the parade (as staples center is less than a mile away from my office).

The pain still lingers.

Not unlike the Hammer, Forsberg is another Swede with a heart of a lion with Viking blood.

Would you add Lidstrom to that bunch? Different type of player for sure but definitely the type of guy you want on your side in the playoffs imho.

Thanks- I would like to see Kesler (I think Kane could flourish under him), but I know that will not happen. It will be a combo of Shaw/TT, with StanBo signing a few lesser players (Winnick?) for the lower lines.

Think the team we saw this year will pretty much be the team next year. Hope I am wrong, but my feeling is Stan is going to play this conservative, and buy into the "1 lucky-bounce away", as opposed to the "If we rolled 4 lines, we would not have had to worry about a single lucky bounce".

Hartnell still has 5 years left on that deal and is already 32 years old.
- dan9189

FWIW, Hawks inquired about Hartnell a few times over the last year or two.

I think they were talking about Bickell at one point.

Any word on why Kevin Hayes seems set to go to free agency in August? Hard to believe the Hawks haven't done everything possible here to sign their 2010 first round pick.

His reps stated it has nothing to do with Hawks trading his brother but I find that hard to believe as well.

Wow, alot of interesting stuff today. Had to do some back reading.
1) So depending on who is talking the hawks are staying pat and doing next to nothing or making the blockbuster trade of the off season.
2) JJ is either the best source for Hawks information on the web or out to beat his own drum and lives to raise the ire of his considerabe following here on HB.

Well as a big hockey fan, keep it up. This blog and HB are always up on my brouser when I can. Several of my friends get trades etc sent to their phones thru some ap. It is yesterdays news in HB's world generally. Collectively there is a mass of knowledge here and some spirited insights on all things hockey and most of all the Hawks. I've learned alot here and more importantly find it entertaining for free.

Me too. I love Ryan Kesler . Battler , 38 points in 50 playoff games , Fantastic on defense , scores goals , hits , gets to the front of the net , 53% at the dot , Kane and him on the same line for 100 games a season would be magic . Plus Saad. OMFG .

Anyways ...

Hi John,
Thought I'd say Hi while I'm at it -- don't let the jerks/detractors deter you from the great job you do here making a home here for all of us!

It's really unfortunate people can be so petty, so jealous that they drag your good name through the mud but almost any sane person should quickly realize they're after making a name for themselves and use your blog to benefit.

Hope all is well with you -- maybe I'll be able to catch up with you at a Jackets game during the upcoming season.

Had a great conversation on the phone today with a fellow poster....

Could the Hawks use a 2C..of course, I don't think anyone disputes this. However, the team has the 4th rated system in the NHL...help is coming. Most of the youngsters will fill out the bottom six.....until they are ready what do they do? Go all in and add a 2C while sacrificing rolling 4 lines and back end depth on the blue line???

The argument could be made for each of the following..The Blackhawks would've won the Stanley Cup if.......

We had a 2C......
We had the ability to roll four lines and had better depth......
We had consistency on the back end of our blue line...

Any one of these would have made the difference against LA....the questions is....what direction Bowman will take?

Bookmarked.

You're right. Stay the course. With two legit NHL centers on your roster. Help is coming. In 2016.
