Surely Vancouver could do better than this:

@Eklund: Trade Rumor: Reimer, Kadri and a pick for Kesler and prospect? http://t.co/4RxaVjvuXM

- DarthKane

Yeah they can do better. And don't call me shirley

Read somewhere that Poile is shopping the 11th overall for a top 6 forward. Would Sharp make that happen?

Which one of you clowns was at "The Tracks" in downtown Cary yesterday? I overheard a conversation that could only have been from someone who reads here regularly.

I'm not sure why the Hawks or Sharp would do that.

Not that I don't like the way Sharp plays, but we'd be plugging one hole by unplugging another. JT would get his LW but then we're out a very talented 2nd line center. This team lacked scoring depth last year.

Nice write up!

oops I wrote it!

I was hoping that I could come on and spend soem time answering any questions, but I am on the road and still never finished 25 profile in the final two rounds, so i am trying to two finger type them over the next couple.

Since I am not at home I didn't get to receive/read my Hockey News Draft issue yet.

I am curious who they had where.

One last thing:
I don't expect most draft years that trades will be as big a part as they have been four- five years ago...
But when weeks before the draft, when you have Tallon talking about teading out and Nashville talking about #11 being available for a "top six" forward...

that should tell you that the crop is shaky.

You gotta wonder if Edmonton can't move up if they move out to attempt to get a quality defender.

Watch some team take Vrana in the top twenty.

I have never seen a draft with so few big punishing Western league defenseman, ever.

even if Nick Ritchie is there, would the hawks elevate him for on the job training?
You might get the second best defender in a very weak crop but he is NOT ready.

What if the entitled William Nylander is there?
The spoiled brat has lots of skill.

(I do like the under 5' 10" Fiala too.)

Any thoughts on Thatcher Demko?
- goaler11

Hmmm he probably goes in the first two, and am not a goalie expert but I think I didn't like him in the Notre Dame series- I don't think he thinks things well yet, and because he doesn't already naturally set up as par for the course, it is because he is just not thinking ahead much, and more trying to react after he isn't techically set for what happens after he reacts. He moves and then resets, moves again. Wasted motion and it instills a lack of confidence. Tha California kid has time and COULD develop just fine, so don't gospel what I say....

Question for Wiz (BTW...love you site and appreciate your draft write up):

Which higher end prospect has the best chance of falling to #27 and why? It seems like there's always a prospect or two each year falls in the draft.

- DarthKane

Actually i tried to talior the article towards which will be gone and which won't.

These forwards could be there:

Nikita Scherbak
Ivan Barbashev
Nikolay Goldobin
Jared McCann
Jakub Vrana
Vladislav Kamenev
Nick Schmaltz
Conner Bleackley
John Quenneville
Brent Pollock

All but two of the defenders

There are actually a lot of good long range goalie prospects this year.

(if you go abck and look at the final round of drafts of yore, you will see NHL more than one nhl goalie has gotten picked that late.)

When your on the Draftsite, there is a undrafted section that lets you see SOME of the others I didn't plug in to the 210 ... There is easentially 425 players in this class that are there...

http://www.draftsite.com/...ock-draft/2014/undrafted/

It will show some pretty good goalies I left out.
(I really feel handcuufed with the goalies...I alway feel like I shouldn't have even as many as I already do! Or that the ones on my extar list might go first...just don't know about the goalies...)

the most interesting of which is Linus Söderström with Djurgården

He has Asperger's Syndrome

ESPN had a nice write up on Mark McNeill and how he really progressed as the season went on. Guess he has really taken to being a solid PK guy. Also said he is projected to be a RW after starting the season at C. Guess question for EK is Mark better in the middle or on the wing? Article also stated the Hawks are very high on him. Nice to see that we have a legit big W in the system close to coming up to the NHL. Here is the link to the story in case anyone is interested...

I am sorry I am getting pulled into this one, but Johns knew the Hawks style allowed activating defenders with regularity, so he basically added it to his repertoire.

In college, Johns was very aggressive with his lumber, and tried to make you know he was around.

Seabrook is a really good skater for his size especially going backwards.
I am not sure that Johns can skate that well.
