My first thought when I saw this from Flyers perspective was "buyout". But, they have used both so that isn't happening.
I'm with you..struggling to understand or even contemplate why Philly did this outside of 2 less years on term. I get why CBus did it.
That will be an entertaining presser... - 87_71_11_29
I'm willing to give RJ a chance, despite the healthy scratch thing. Maybe they wanted a more defensively responsible player to put with Couturier and Read? |

bjug, bergenhiem, 2nd rounder for neal, roupp - ChrisMS
Ruopp doesn't really move the needle for me as a prospect so I'm acting like hes not even there.
I'm a little biased to say yes because I really want a package deal based around Neal. I like Bjug and the 2nd rounder would be the 32nd overall. Bergenheim might be an okay 3rd or 4th liner. |

Is it me or is Hartnell for Umburger just seem a tad bit lopsided?
It seems the only thing I have heard of Umburger in the past 2 seasons is that hes been a healthy scratch. |

What are you radical changes that you propose? I mean, I agree with you that the roster has been poorly constructed, but now that Pyatt, Glass, Vitale, Orpik, Engelland are now off the roster, I believe they can start addressing the needs for real depth through FA. I also don't see Adams back after this season, same with Fleury too.
But I don't think that the Penguins are that far off from competing for the Cup. They still have a great core to build around with Geno, Sid, Neal, Letang, Maatta, Martin (for now). I'm pretty sure there are GMs that would love to build around those pieces. Yes they have a lot of spots to fill, but if filled with the right pieces, I definitely think they can put out a good squad. - j.boyd919
Neal and a 3rd to Arizona for Shane Doan and Jordan Martinook.
Kunitz to COL for Jamie McGinn and G Sami Aittokallio/3rd round pick.
Letang to WPG for Evander Kane, Tomas Kubalik.
Acquire, if possible, draft selections for the negotiating rights to Orpik, Stempniak, Jokinen, Gibbons, Niskanen.
I could care less if Sutter is retained or signs an offer sheet. I think the picks may be better for Pittsburgh depending on Sutter's asking price.

Anything more then 3.25 to 3.5 for sutter is over paying.
How about fleury to the sharks for Kennedy and a 3rd |

How is a 20 goal scorer like Lupul a reject? Not saying you should trade the moon and the stars for him, but reject? |

Letang's a good dman, but a dman of his variety is just not a need for them. You'd be better off floating Neal their way. |

This really wasn't a cap move, not on the short term anyways.
But for real, we're getting superstar David Clarkson. |

Well since the savings don't really kick in for a few years, I'd say it's for their future.
Couts, Voracek, Schenn...Coburn and Grossmann?? |

I can't think of a single team who is not rebuilding that is in need of a starter who would prefer Fleury to Ryan Miller. The time to move on from him was two seasons ago; I think he hits the UFA market next season after collecting something like 33 wins.
Actually the first thing I would do is offer sheet Ryan O'Reilly. I don't need Jamie McGinn that badly. |

That's true, because from a hockey stand point it makes no sense.
Would you trade Pronger for Sutter, I know it sounds like a joke but im dead serious. |

Letang is a solid #3 D. WPG has Bogo, Trouba, Enstrom, and Mark Stuart. Just sayin. Enstrom and Stuart may be more effective (especially in the West) slotted down by one on the depth chart. Plus they would have a guy to aggrandize to Toronto. |

Yeah really, both locked up for a few more yrs, same age. To me Umberger was a bottom 6 at best, mostly a 4th liner. Who the hell thought he was worth that much? Hartnell was the face of the franchise IMO. |
