If someone is willing to take MAF off us for 1 more yr at 5mil, then someone else is willing to pay the rest of the FA Goalies 5+, MAF staying is the most practical and responsible thing to do. Just bringing in an older goalie (Miller) at equal quality and greater pay is not a better option IMO.

If Umberger can fetch Hartnell, I am really curious as to what Neal could bring back.

St Louis lost there last 8 games of the season and played the second best team in the league in the first round. Buffalo was terrible last season, gave him zero support.
Miller >fleury and it's not close.

Fluery > than Miller and it's not even close.

seriously, miller showed why he is on the downtrend at the end of last season and fluery showed improvement from previous seasons. and he cost less. and the ladies love that poopeatin grin!

I'm not paying a goalie 6+M a year for a 2.50 GAA and a .915 save% in the playoffs. You can get that production a lot cheaper somewhere else

That's not his numbers against Chicago, those are his career playoff numbers.

I'm still confused on how this is a clown show? Two relatively small name coaches turn us down for easier starting jobs is being snubbed? Walking into the Vancouver job right now would be the easiest thing in the world. "I'm Not TORTS!" crowd roars...
So what, hire Tochett and or Ulf and bring up Hines to work with them as an assistant. Find one more really good strategy coach and get to work.

Oh, and make sure you pay Sutter

I love that idea, not sure if NASH would. Hornqvist and Okposo are the 2 F's I want coming back for Neal.

What makes you think that bringing Miller in gives us a much better chance. A great performance when he was playing on basically an all-star team? Or his average performance the 5 times he's made the playoffs???

That is really obvious. It is also pretty clear that Miller is no better than Fleury at this point in their careers. If you move Fleury it must be for cap reasons so getting Miller at 6 solves nothing. Vokoun would be a better choice at a cheaper price.

If the Penguins got average goaltending every year in the playoffs they might have won it all again by now.

Why is everyone so upset about Scuderi? I think everyone thought he would just come back and it would be like he never left, I dont think it works that way.

Not long ago everyone would have traded Martin for a sandwich, now he's one of the best D we have. Last off season everyone was sure Niskanen would get traded and everyone was happy to see him go, he ended up staying and had a great year.

The only year you can blame on goaltending was the year we got knocked out by Philly in the 1st round.

Problem with that is Miller was put on one of the best teams in the NHL and posted average stats.

Such a big sample size there....

Personally, neither Miller or Fleury are worth $5million/year. Fleury's big "bounce back" year last year was a brilliant league average performance.

Same money, I take Miller. But both are overpriced.
