Such a big sample size there....

Personally, neither Miller or Fleury are worth $5million/year. Fleury's big "bounce back" year last year was a brilliant league average performance.

Same money, I take Miller. But both are overpriced.

- YouMeAndDupuis9

But he's talking about how good Miller is, you would think he would post great numbers playing behind a great team. He didn't, and it cost the Blues a chance to go deeper into the playoffs.

Someone else posted this trade idea, so they get the credit...but I posted it on the Jet's board to see the reaction and they seemed to like it on their end. I would do this trade and then sign Miller (or Hiller or whichever goaltender you fancy)

To Pittsburgh:

Kane
1st

To Winnipeg:

Neal
Fleury

Why is everyone so upset about Scuderi? I think everyone thought he would just come back and it would be like he never left, I dont think it works that way.

Not long ago everyone would have traded Martin for a sandwich, now he's one of the best D we have. Last off season everyone was sure Niskanen would get traded and everyone was happy to see him go, he ended up staying and had a great year.

It's the mentality of a Pittsburgh fan. Something worked in the and no matter how many yrs removed it will keep working. For example the Steelers with a running offense. Those days are long gone. But ppl want to just run the ball.

It's no different than the love affair of Dupes. Dude was a 4th liner when the Pens win the cup, move him with 87 and his stats get bumped a bit, that's expected to happen. But everyone seems to ignore the fact that he's 35 and coming off major knee surgery and 2 yrs removed from a solid season.

Same logic applies with Scuds, made a great play in the crease in gm 7 and all of a sudden he's the next Lidsrtom. The Scuds I remember is the one that was our "shutdown" D man and OV still had 8Goals in 7 games.

Is there a statue of Gibbons yet at the point after 1 playoff game? Dude has the size of St. Louis and the skill of Glass, only thing he has is speed. He starts throwing his weight around and hes done. But he "deserves" a spot.

If the Penguins got average goaltending every year in the playoffs they might have won it all again by now.

I don't think you'll find many complaints here either, Kane and a top 15 pick for Neal/Fluery would be quite the coupe for the Pens but will never happen (I hope I eat my words).

What are you talking about? We should trade for Talbot, Fedetenko, Sykora, and Hal Gill.

The whole blues team fell off a cliff the last 10 to 20 games of the season ... I believe they lost 13 out of the last 15 including playoffs. .. 7 of the games vs chi ... But that's all millers fault?? The team peaked early... Like Boston.. Plus the sample size is to small to mean anyrhing.
There are very few hanks that carry a team and win a series... Best you can ask is your goalie not lose it ... Miller won't lose a series ... Fleury ... Has not since phily, pulled vs isles or would have ... Future???? Who knows? Do you want to find out? I'll take miller

I've played on rec league teams with sh!tty goalies

The entire team adopts a mentality of "Dont let them shoot", or "Defense first, get back, get back"

It stifles the offense when the team has no confidence in its goaltending, the goalie might still put up good "numbers" in the end, but you end up losing games 2-1 and 3-2....

Speaking of the Blues and Miller....Have any of the teams that made major deadline moves, won a cup recently. I cant recall the Kings, Bruins, Hawks doing anything like what the Blues did this yr and the Pens last year and winning. And no I don't consider Billy G a major move.

This year it was above average, MAF is the least of our problems.

Soft forwards, Weak D-men, stick on puck, no net front presence, 0 effort from Sid, Gibbons as a first liner, and no back bone are all things that rank up there way before spotty goaltending.

I agree to a point, but its not like Neal us rushing back to make a defensive play. I thought the Pens lost to the Rags and Bruins in the playoffs and nobody really scored but they were still putting up 35 shots/gm? When MAF has constant odd man rushes that doesn't seem very defensive minded. I read somewhere that Jussi was the only Pen to score a rebound goal? Garbage goals are what counts and when cups. Neal blasting it buy the goalie on the PP is nice and all but when all you can do is play the perimeter teams will learn to shut that down.

1. I know this is pretty much a given, but my friend is golfing with Tocchet in Roethlisberger's charity golf outing today. Tocchet confirmed that he'll be an assistant for the upcoming season. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

2. Haha, get this. When my friend asked Tocchet who he's going to be assisting, Tocchet smiled and told him Babcock.

3. I laughed and said "In Detroit?" and he said no, Pittsburgh.

EDIT - I'm just the messenger, no shooting please.

My point is you're claiming that Miller is a top goalie. Top goalies pull teams through rough spots like that. LA goes down 3-0 to San Jose, Quick responds by only giving up 5 goals in the next 4 games. The Pens go up 3-1 against the Rangers, Lundqvist holds the Pens to 3 goals over the next 3 games. If i'm going to pay a goalie 6+M, i want one that will be able to steal games when my team is not playing its best, especially in big games. Miller hasn't shown he can do that lately, and he isn't going to magically get younger.

I think we can both agree that his stats in buffalo the last three season are mediocre bc the quality of his teams was horrifying bad... Is a 20 game sample in St. Louis enough to say that?? Plus they played Chicago who in my book were clearly the second best team and win a cup if they beat la... So while I hear your point.. You think it's fair to hold that against miller ... Quick was terrible vs Chicago too .. Every game was 6 5 or 5 4

Yep probably too good to be possible. Interesting WPG fans are okay with it. Not that that means anything...but kind of shows they're just as sick of Kane as we are Neal.

Yes, his stats were worse the last 3 seasons because Buffalo was a dumpster fire . But what I'm trying to point out is that even when Buffalo was a playoff team, his stats weren't that good, except for one season.

I'm still confused on how this is a clown show? Two relatively small name coaches turn us down for easier starting jobs is being snubbed? Walking into the Vancouver job right now would be the easiest thing in the world. "I'm Not TORTS!" crowd roars...
So what, hire Tochett and or Ulf and bring up Hines to work with them as an assistant. Find one more really good strategy coach and get to work.

Oh, and make sure you pay Sutter

- usethe1-2-2

You don't find it a bit amateurish/clownish the way they handled the firing of Bylsma? Then the new GM comes in and says he's leaving in 2 or 3 years. Then JR says he didn't even speak to Dan because ownership wanted him out even after Mario and Burkle both said Dan could possibly stay. Then the GM announces that he has his "guy"....and the "guy" leaves for a lesser opportunity.

Now we find out that they're reaching into the Juniors rank for a coach. Maybe it will work out, but you'd think they want somebody with a little more experience dealing with men. This is not a young team.

I know one thing, If JR were working for me, I wouldn't be happy about him being this public. His work with the 'Canes is starting to make sense.
