So now we're dipping into Juniors for our coaching search. F'n clown show at Consol. - madmike71
Mario, Burkle exit a small car. Oh wait..there is Rutherford and Botts.
Oh wait..more...the new stats guru fired by his old man. Its Billy G. Fitz.
And Moorehouse bringing up the rear...
How many GM's do these guys have?

Hate to see JJ go, I thought he was a very solid consistant player that can play anywhere in the lineup. I hate to see how much he will make on the market. If he is signed for 3.5 or less, JR should not be a NHL GM. - sammy87
Agree completely. He has the skill and versatility to play with Malkin or Crosby. I am curious though if the owners had something to say about it, regarding his discipline in a few games. Certainly not as bad as Neal or angry-Malkin, but maybe an example setting non-move. |

Maybe it was something like Maybe Mario will give him a raise, or something
I remember it as a weird/funny comment - TheGame316
Yeah I remember too. I have that game on - ahem - VHS. |

Price for Niskanen is going up:
@MAGodin - 3 year deal for Andrei Markov. I hear same money (5,75 M) than his previous two deals. - cap1681
Who cares about Nisk. He is gone.
Real impact of this...price for Paul Martin next year just went up.
People on this board seem to thing we're gonna sign him neat year for no more than $6 mill.
He'll command close to $7 on the open market with one more effective season.
D of his caliber always get overpaid. |

Was more thinking about his trade rights becoming more valuable. |

That's why I don't understand the fascination with moving Letang. Sure he takes up 7.2 mil in cap, but he still is a good D man, and there are no bodies ready to take what he brings in the farm. So sign a FA dman for similar $$$ that's not as good? Sign Nisk to similar $$$...No thanks! |

This offseason? I'd hope if he is traded it's next. Regardless, I don't see him hitting 7 mill at that age. |

ok so trade their rights already!! (frank)in amateur hour - nh4442
If they trade this years #1 pick, it f-ing better be for a LW/RW in his early 20's that we can extend.
Other than that, keep the pick. |

I think the allure of trading Letang was not to get rid of him, but what the Pens could have gotten (or get) for him. |

Funny thing is, If Lindros was a better "pro" and did more for the game as short as his career was I could possibly support his induction
I will look past "pure stats" on a players candidacy, (Of course they still have to have "HOF worthy numbers" if I feel they were also an "ambassador" to the game, or changed the way the game was played
Lindors' career of putting himself before the team and the NHL on too many occasions sours me on him - TheGame316
Pretty much agree with this.
But for a few years there, 88 was a beast. |

Saw on twitter that Snow was willing to trade the 5th pick for a scoring winger. So how about:
Neal and 22nd pick for Okposo, the 5th pick, and a 2nd? |

Agree 100%
I was all for moving him after last year. After this year, they have backed themselves into a corner and kind of have to keep him.
If they trade him now, they'd virtually have to resign Martin at all costs and you'd end up paying him close to $7 mill anyway. I'll take the younger Letang at 7.25 as opposed to 35 year old Martin at $6.75. |

And if hes not in his early 20's, it better be a star...and even at that, ug, more cap problems. |

Why is everyone so upset about Scuderi? I think everyone thought he would just come back and it would be like he never left, I dont think it works that way.
Not long ago everyone would have traded Martin for a sandwich, now he's one of the best D we have. Last off season everyone was sure Niskanen would get traded and everyone was happy to see him go, he ended up staying and had a great year. - canadajim
ill admit i was ready to push martin out. but his problems were at least mainly mental.
scuds literally is just physically unable to do many things. |

Grr. I'm doing bashing my head into a wall like Cap's avatar trying to figure out who this could have been about...Stevens, (gulp) Babcock?
“I had a couple of guys that I considered top candidates who did not interview originally,” Rutherford said. “The reason was because I believed they were committed elsewhere and weren't available. Since then, I've contacted them to see if they have that commitment. Those are guys I'm going to be talking to.”

If Snow traded Okposo straight up for Neal he'd be fired. Let alone throwing in the 5th and a second rounder. |

I'd bet your looking too far into it. I think it's just JR trying to cover his ass. |

Ok stupid question.. does this mean the current team, or new teams...
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva 15m
Wednesday teams will be allowed to talk to UFA/RFA players. They can talk about $ but it's impossible to sign a contract before July 1st.
and if that is the case of new teams, then shouldnt all of our rfas be qualified? |

Yeah....maybe he wouldn't be fired. A good tongue-lashing then! Seriously though, Okposo has good chemistry with Tavares and is a more complete player then Neal. The Isles are/should be in playoff form with the return of Tavares and a couple good moves July 1. Neal doesn't help them. I would love him on our team but it ain't happening. |
