This is very similar to the roster I came up with but I traded Neal to ANA for Cogliano and Etem. I really like the potential of 2 good young pieces for Neal as long as they are ready to play in the NHL immediately. Anaheim has some good pieces as mentioned in Palmeri, Etem, Smith-Pelly, and Cogliano. IMO, I think a team like Anaheim could use Neal. No matter what negative light we paint him in. Every team could use a top goal scorer and a powerplay sniper. And I think its likely most teams are stubborn enough to think they can turn around the antics and make him more disciplined. I think there is a trade to be made somewhere there.
In regards to this specific roster, I wouldnt pay that much for Moulson. And would look to replace Fleury. Other than that, I like it. - YouMeAndDupuis9
That will be Moulson's market value. As for Fleury, i have no problem with the Pens keeping him. He is entering a contract year, and we've seen what players can do in contract years (see Niskanen and Dupuis) |

Best Neal trades I've seen so far:
Neal to ANA for Palmeri + Smith-Pelly
Neal to ANA for Cogliano + Etem
Neal + Fleury to WPG for Kane + 1st
Neal to NYI for Okposo + ?
Neal to TBL for Connolly + Purcell + 1st |

Yeah, pretty bad roster dude...I like Malhotra though, would be a small cap hit, and would be a big upgrade to the bottom line, PK and grit. Great locker room guy as well, or so I have heard. - mventres
Malhotra hasn't had a CF over 45% in the last 2 full seasons he's played. He's another Craig Adams/Tanner Glass... I'll gladly pass over him, no need for more dead weight on this roster. |

5 million for a 4th line center... Bolland? No thanks. Cam Ward and Nabokov? Hell no... gimme Hiller instead. As much as I liked Clarkson when he was on NJ... no way... they are already overpaying Scuderi and Dupuis no need to overpay another over the hill old guy. |

What're you talking about? These are great acquisitions that will make the Pens tougher to play against. You get a proven veteran goaltending tandem. Clarkson and Bolland bring oodles of leadership, and DClark comes at the low cost of Neal + 1st round pick (I didn't list that part). Carcillo brings sandpaper and entertainment.
I wanted to put Maatta alone on the top pairing, but he got lonely and called Rob in. |

Hiller is going to be too expensive. This tandem is much better. I also like Clarkson on your roster, he's got a great contract. |

Anaheim is looking for top 6 help, as noted by their pursuit of Spezza and Kesler. Despite of what people think of him, if Neal is made available, he will be one of the best available top 6 wingers on the market. - cap1681
I actually think Neal would indeed help them. They do lack that secondary sniper-type. With Selanne moving on, Neal could slot nicely into his position.
Neal for Cogs and either Etem or Smith-P...we may have to add something to even it out a bit. I don't think they would do Neal for Cogs + SP straight up.
But, I think there would be a deal to be had there.
Would inject some youth, more grit, little bit of size, room for growth.
Plus, Cogs is signed long term at a good #.
He is a Center. Can he play wing?

Willie Desjardin not liking the terms or conditions of the coaching offer is a huge blessing in disguise. The guy is a 60 year old AHL coach for a reason, bring on the Ulf/Tocchet show!! |

Being in Tampa for the last 4 years... I want none of Purcell. He's got a wicked shot but refuses to use it too often instead opting to pass... Don't understand it, and he looks way too disinterested and lazy at times. I honestly don't want Connolly either, I see him as a bust. If you're going to trade Neal to TBL, try to get Kucherov (which I doubt you can) or Namestnikov, although I don't think TBL even needs a winger, they are looking for help on the back end. And we have none of that to give them, they won't take Scuderi, and might go after Niskanen in FA. I don't see a trade with TBL happening. |

Could we possibly get a "3 for 1" from Anaheim? Any of the Duck players mentioned sound fine except no one is much of a hitter. Anyone know anything about the players' analytics? |

Two UFA's that I would take a look at are Milan Michalek and Vern Fiddler.
Michalek could be a cheaper version of Hemsky, and Fiddler could be a solid 4th line center, pk'er and be a bit of a pest. |
