Leafs fans vastly over-rate Franson.
Last year was the first time in his career that his TOI/G was enough to consider him out of the bottom pairing. And that was on a team with horrifically bad defence. One of the worst corps in the league (some would say corpse).
He's redundant on the Leafs - we already have Gardiner.
Don't expect much for Franson in a trade. - Atomic Wedgie
I do think he is expendable also.
but not for the low low value of mot much |

i agree
i think if u move him and reimer together we may get a decent return
and off 2 players that the team doesnt need (if you ask me). - big_dion
Riemer has less trade value than Franson.
Two turds together do not add up to a decent return. |

I'd trade both for a 3rd rounder and be very happy. |

It's going to be an interesting next couple of weeks.
Simply put, our defence sucks. It's the number one thing they need to address.
Getting a stay-at-home guy who can play with Phaneuf would be a huge addition - take a bit of defensive responsibility off of Dion. Let him play a little looser.
Push Gunnarson down to the second pairing (or get rid of him). Hope Gardiner can figure out the game a little better.
Continue to shelter Rielly.
Hope Gleason has a miraculous recovery.
Bring in some kids for looks.
And pray you sneak into the playoffs. |

Whoa, waaaaay too soon.
First, the Leafs have to draft him next year.
Then you have to idolize him for the first half of the season.
And then when he goes through a 4-game scoring slump in his rookie season in the NHL, only then will it be time to rip on this kid.
Too soon, MCharisma91.
Too soon. |

is it the Defense or the coaches running the team?
this past season the leafs put up the same points as the last full Ron Wilson coached leafs team.
that team had
Phaneuf
Kaberle
Aulie
Lebda
Beauchemin
Komisarek
Gunnarsson
Schenn
i have no doubt RW could have gotten the 2014 leafs into the playoffs |

after a quick bit of backreading, the only question I have is:
Is Iggysbff insanely butthurt, or madly butthurt? - Feeling Glucky?
Neither, he is just a pathetic azshole who has so little of a life that he can't resist trolling the Leafs boards, all day, every day.
Probably 5'4" with a proportionally-sized wiener.

Reimer has little value due to his position. Franson however being a D-Man with his size, shot, age is still very attractive. |

i think there's a reason Nashville handed this guy over without blinking. Leafs would be better off using that slot to break in a young guy. - DoubleDown

Please trade Dion for #5
http://www.cbc.ca/sports-...tant-to-commit-early.html
7. Islanders GM Garth Snow is on record telling Newsday's Arthur Staple that he will give up the fifth selection for a player who can help them win now. Other teams are more in "stealth mode," and one is definitely Toronto. Dave Nonis is like a baseball GM, throwing 25 players on the waiver wire to hide the one he really wants to move.

that's a better overall defence in the moment. Kaberle was still useful when he was in TO and Beauchemin is a really solid top-3 dman. and you had enough there to cobble together a solid third pairing. Leafs current D has more potential with Gardiner and Rielly, but they've also got the mistakes and poor positional play that go with having two young high-end offensive guys getting serious minutes.

Leafs better not trade Kadri or Gardiner
been reading a lot of fancy stats analysis on them... would be a big mistake
unless you are getting a similar young player..but then whats the point - senstroll
Even without fancy stats, you just need to look at age, basic stats and watch them play to see the potential.
You don't build a solid franchise trading away young pieces like that, lightly.

That is the Leafs fans' way Wedgie.
We suggest offering up MANY turds, assuming it makes up the same value as 1 non-turd.
