i mean you should consider yourself fortunate to be supervising people with such initiative and foresight.
they sound like management material. you better be careful you dont teach them too well. - stayinthefnnet
The sad thing is that I'm not management, I'm pretty much the low man. |

Maybe RJ was injured for that game and he couldn't go that game. - Deasr1
Nah, he was often a healthy scratch down the stretch last year. I think he just didn't fit anywhere anymore, or whatever they're calling disgruntlement in Columbus these days.

I haven't seen anyone discredit his work. Just examples that he may not be the player he once was - funmaster18
One person did in fact say his numbers were a product of his line. Thats discrediting the player himself. Im not completely sure he's the same player either . |

Kind of shocking that the Flyers couldn't even get their own 2015 3rd back in this deal. |

And, just for comparisons sake, here are Umbergers stats over the last 2 seasons:
GP: 122 out of 130
G: 26, 10pp, 1sh, 15es
A: 26, 7pp, 1sh, 18es
PTS: 52, 17pp, 2sh, 33es
Averages over 82 games
17 goals, 17 assists, 34 points
When you consider that Umberger doesn't get the amount of pp time that Hartnell does, nor does he regularly play with a player like Giroux, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference. The playoff benching is concerning, but then again, its not like Columbus went on to win without him so take it for what its worth. |

True, but we moved a guy with 5 years left who had a NMC. We got back 3 years on a guy people view as "not as good". But maybe Hartnell didn't buy into the system. Berube had been hanging out with Chip Kelly. - Deasr1
Thats fine, i hope you guys are right about this system talk. |

3rd overall AND Vinny for Shattenkirk!? - mochoson
Well, I would rather have Alex P, but you can get too greedy. And quality D men come at a hefty price tag.
And the salaries match up nicely.
I wouldn't mind snagging Paarvi from them either |

Only if it involves massive ambulance chasing. People need to get paid, and we need to help them. |

I don't see Hartnell fitting in there for too long either, which must be worrisome if you're a Jackets fan.
Foligno's gone soon, but they just signed Simon Hjalmarsson and Bjorkstrand/Rychel could potentially win spots, and Jenner and Calvert/Atkinson aren't going anywhere.
Chances are high that they could be stuck w/ a $4.75M 4th-line plug in the near future. |

first let me say that i am no flyer or hartnell fan. with that being said, i thought he was a great fit for the team. to me, he was what any fan wants on their team. you love him if he plays for you and you hate him if he doesnt. not a dirty player, just tough to play against. he brings it every game. isnt that what you want? To get RJ and a low pick back for him is not a win if i am a flyers fan.
a loss for philly (unless a part of something else). i thought he would retire a flyer (yes, i know it doesnt usually play out that way). just a surprising move for someone who doesnt watch them every game (coming from a fan who looked forward to playing against him). i wish him the best. |

this is a good day - we actually found a team to take Hartnell's terrible lengthy contract! and got better defensively and much less stupid penalties.
now if we can only get Vanek to play with Giroux!

So, I don't understand lots of stuff about the CBA. If CBJ buys him out in 3 years, does that affect the Flyers, or is that only for retirement? |

well, thats only a fall back.
the real pipe dream is the lovely world of sports agency.
that will likely not be feasible.
and there will always be ambulances. so, you do the math about the prognosis of our future. |
