if they're looking for a young scoring forward, it'd have to be Schenn + a Dman for Yandle + a winger. The only wingers I would go near are Boedker or maaybe Korpikoski. Boedker would make the deal a lot more expensive for us. I don't know what Dman they would even want. Ideally we would move Grossmann. It'd probably be something more along the lines of Yandle + Boedker for BSchenn + LSchenn + 2nd/3rd + mid-tier prospect like Cousins or Leier. While Yandle and Boedker are both young, it still sort of throws the plan of sticking with our youth core out the window. I don't see Hextall doing it.

My initial thought was that I hated the deal. Being a fan, Hartnell was a favourite of mine. Does a lot of charity work and what not, seems like a solid, fun-loving guy.

After letting it stew for most of the day, I'm ok with it. We will see the rewards of moving him now, when Umberger's contract expires and Columbus is stuck with a 35-year old 3rd-4th line winger making north of 4.5 mil.

Hell, in 2 years we have another big summer of signings to take care of. I could see Philly buying out that last year of Umberger's deal, when we have to sign Voracek, B. Schenn, and Couturier for sure, Raffl, Coburn, and even L. Schenn and Grossmann possibly.

Umberger will be fine on the 3rd line. I'd prefer to keep B. Schenn as 2C with Simmonds and Read, and put Raffl on the 3rd line with Couturier and RJ.

I'm curious what Hextall has planned going forward this summer. Moving out Vinny has to be a priority, and now finding a top-6 winger is a must. Oh, and tinkering with the D. No pressure on his first summer as GM in this town.

Do you realize that in two years, when the flyers have to resign vorachek, couturier, and b schenn, that a buyout isn't the worst thing that could happen. It could in fact save them 2.9m opposed to to 1.3 they would have saved that year buying out hartnell!!!
