If it's the 5th overall for Tyler Myers, it's paying too much. IMO. - TheSabresTaco
Lets say 3rd-4th. Yes or No? |

No , In this draft the other team needs to add another piece . I need a top 3 forward for him or top 2 defenceman . Not guaranteed in this draft

Edit. Even 3 and 4 I don't think I'd give him up. I'd still want a decent defensive prospect. He's going to be a top 4 defenseman for the next 12-15 years. That's not something you just give away for an unproven prospect in this particular draft. - TheSabresTaco
Not only do I agree, but I also think the Sabres fans have been through enough as far as watching players leave Buffalo and getting their nameplates on their jerseys changed.
But there's that small part of me that would be tempted to do it. Maybe its because we've heard the drum beaten for these top 6 guys for months. Which leads to my next question:
As a GM if you had to choose, spend in free agency this year vs. Trading Myers to be in the top 5 this year which would it be? |

Anybody else interested in going after Brian Boyle? I like the way he plays and would be a good 3/4th liner who is great on the PK. Thought he was a great playoff guy this year and last. Bring him in and sign Ott and having a 3/4th line with them and Kaleta would be miserable for other teams to play against. |

On February 4, 2009, Jussi Jokinen was placed on waivers by the Lightning and later on February 7, 2009, was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Wade Brookbank, Josef Melichar and a 2009 fourth round draft pick. - dadeadhead[4]
funny thing is when I goggled jokinen, tampa and waivers, nothing came up
wiki had it though |

one last comment before my summer break
for those who think the sabres plan on tanking for a top 2 pick next season, why would they move halak and a pick for Neuvirth and a salary dump
if the plan is to tank, they had 3 goalies to put out there next season
and for the cap floor logic, they will have no problem reaching that and the extra 1.5 mil from Neuvirth is minimal

Boyle will get 2-3 mil per and hasn't been anything close to the player he was in 10/11. He might've been good in the playoff's but that means squat to Buffalo for the next few years. He was 10th in TOI for the team(St Louis doesn't count IMO as he only played 19 games).
Sucks too, I had high hopes for him after the 10/11 season. |

There plan is to tank. I don't think Nuevirth or Matt Moulson have anything to do with it.
Murray said himself they aren't trying to turn this thing around in 1 year, but it doesn't take 5. He said his goal was to be tougher to play against and to not be viewed as an easy 2 points. |

I'm confused...you think they're planning to be better by trading away Halak and sticking with Enroth and Neuvirth? I'd take Halak over either of them.
I think it shows more tank to have Enroth/Neuvirth/Hackett as the round robin |

Doesn't matter. Everyone will just dump on Enroth/Neuvirth. It's always the goalies fault. |

No matter which way you spin it, they're tanking. Accept it.

Months have passed and I still have Miller pretty much pegged to SJ which hasn't changed. The idea behind it is Niemi is moved to a team like WPG.
Sabres room still has Reinhart as top guy on their list. FLA has 4 good offers for trade. VAN, EDM, TOR and WPG in no order. It's all about if they want Ekblad or not obviously.
Ennis deal I spoke of was 15mil/3 years. Ennis camp now wants a 4 year deal at 21.5 million.
Murray has no deal in place yet but had good talks with a few teams about moving into first round. SJ talks were the best. Obviously it depends on whose left but strong feeling is their first bet is Alex Tuch is he's there. If not still make the deal and pick Demko is all scouts agree that hip injuries are behind him.
There has also been thrown around the possibility of getting back into the first round and using that plus another player or pick to move up into top 10 to select Ehlers or Viratanen.
Also had talks with WPG around deal that sends Hodgson+ for Evander Kane - Beezer33
Man all your sources are telling the sabres to do all the things people on this board talk about doing. |

It's crazy.... Murray must be reading the board and determining what the fans want. |

They took Neuvirth to help get to the floor this year since he had a year left on his deal. Just like stewart and Mitchell did too. Those three players added a little over 8.5 million dollars to our cap this year.
Imagine not having those 3, plus the Leino buy out. It would be much harder to get to the floor. |
