According to Hextall, after he explained the rationale to Grillo, Hartnell called him.
“The one question he asked me was, ‘When did I fall out of favor?’” Hextall said. “I said, ‘No Hartsy, you haven’t fallen out of favor. This is just something that fits for us and we want to move forward with it.’
“To Scott’s credit and his agent’s credit, they were open to it, though it took them two days, which I had no problem with.” - feanor

Yes, I have to try it like four times and refresh the page before it works. |

Ok, then I agree with your point. No one, but Giroux and Mason, should be untouchable when it comes to a proven number one defenseman. If they were unproven, the you start adding Voracek, Couts, Simmer, Morin, etc. - aflyerpower8
I'm not sure it's really worth it to trade for a guy like that. I'm not a big fan of the OS either. You hope that your picks are high, but if injuries strike the main core and you end up with a top ten pick, it's gone. What if you are a player away and at the deadline you could have him for a 1rst. No picks. I like Subban and I know we need a player of his caliber, just don't see it being worth it. |

My friend, I hope you are right. However, if Montreal called Hexy and said, " We can't sign Subban, give us both Schenns and your first. He's yours". I bet you both those little buggers would be in the same suitcase on a plane to Canada that hour. |

In general, it costs a ton and you need enough good roster players, good prospects, and some cap space to refill all the holes you made. The Flyers don't have enough right now for a trade like that. |

I understand that. I know that is not going to happen again. Well, at least I think it won't. But I am curious to see the deal he gets. Friday to next Friday will be very interesting around the league. |

Thank god you are not the GM. Look at it this way, you would be able to most likely be able to keep your boy Vinny on the 2nd line. |

Kind of a little less excited for the draft after seeing Hexy's thoughts on this draft. Sounds like they're very softly kicking around the idea of moving up. Really curious what the cost to move up from 17 to 6 or 7 would be. Could be the difference from getting a solid 2nd line winger and a legit top line LW. I'm looking at Vancouver at 6 and wondering if 17, Hagg and a 3rd get it done or would it have to be something like 17 and Laughton? Richie is the guy I would have in mind with the pick. |

what do you guys estimate the cost to move into the top ten for the Flyers in the draft?
assuming this is a swap of #17 for a pick #6-10, as hinted in the earlier comment from Hexy? - Marc D
It will cost a fair amount because there isn't a large amount of "high end talent", I firmly stay at 17 because I believe it's still a solid draft or if I can I try to slide back a little.

Hopefully that includes all the teams in the 20-23 range. My pipe dream is trading back to 21(picking up their later second) and grabbing McKeown. |
