My predicitions after seeing how much players are going for:
Schenn G Voreck
Read Vinnie Simmer
RJ Couts Akeson (raffl in the 3rd)
Raffl Laughton internal spot (Rinaldo/McGinn/Alderson)
As much as it sucks I can see the flyers going with what they have and then go for it next year. Keep future cap low and sell players high from now to July 1 2015 |

Dustin Brown is signed to a pretty large deal too. He's a good player, but doesn't produce much offensively - PhillySportsGuy

Just sitting here thinking and not working but would you include Stolarz in a deal to move Vinny to make it appealing and also get back a little more useful asset and then take Thatcher Demko at 17? - J35Bacher
nope. |

No for two reasons:
1. I like Stolarz more than I like getting rid of Lecavalier's contract.
2. I do not think Demko is worth the 17th pick.

That must be it. Still, give Gaborik 4 or 5 years. 7 at his age with his injury history is absolutely senseless.
The over 35 rule applies to the last 3 or 4 years too. |

The exact AAV on Gaborik: $4.875 M per year. I had narrowed it down to $4.9 M but it's $4.875 M exactly
So it's kind of a steal really - Streit2ThePoint
The term is a bit long.
I wonder if this shoves Richie out the door, though. |

Not really? If he retires at 37 and stays relatively healthy those 5 years, that's a great cap hit. |

No it doesn't, players have to be 35 years old when contract is signed. |

Wtf is Lombardi thinking? Gaboriks and Richards contracts are going to hurt that team badly in three years time. - hereticpride
The Kings fans are marching down to the Staples Center now with pitchforks, their gonna salt the earth, and start fires. |

Would there not be a cap recapture penalty if he retires early? |

via capgeek:
"The 2013 CBA states that any long-term contract — defined as seven years or more — entered into on or before Sept. 15, 2012, is eligible for cap advantage recapture if a team received a “cap advantage” from it at the time the player retires or defects from the NHL."
So it looks like new contracts are not subject to cap recapture, in short. |

Meh.... Who cares about the 2 Cups in 3 years! Gaborik has just been signed to a 7 year deal. The Kings are (frank)ed. |

Will have to see yr-by-yr breakdown of Gaborik deal but IF he decides to walk away from any remaining yrs, there are no cap hits/penalties. |

I'm surprised velcro sneakers haven't made a comeback. With all the fat out of shape slobs around, tying one's shoes seems like such a waste of energy. |

I have a feeling if the flyers signed Gaborik to this exact same contract people would claim it to be the worst contract ever. |

Because contract is front loaded as much as allowed ...he wont want to play for free in the last couple years of the deal
Win win for both parties here |
