7 picks and tons of cap space in an extremely deep draft, then toss in the Embiid injuries and it makes for great drama. |

I really hope they don't take McKeown, Ho-Sang, or Perlini... the guys with the low hockey IQ or who play soft absolutely infuriate me.
I realize that I'm in no way, shape, or form qualified to be a GM in this league (or any other), but if they do take one of those guys, its going to leave me praying for the next several years, and as a an agnostic.. i really won't know who to pray to... so please.. think of me, Hexy.. and don't draft any of those guys. Please? - Doc_Sarcasm
(Gloves off)
Low hockey IQ, please. Here is his projection:
Stylistically I would compare McKeown to Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues with his effortless skating and solid two-way game. This is not a talent comparison though, just a style one. In terms of talent he could develop into a top 4 defenceman capable of playing all situations and being a weapon on the powerplay.
Yeah, I hate those Petro type defenseman who can do everything for your team, skate well, and can quarterback a powerplay. They're terrible. |

Well, the only tidbit I've heard recently from my people are that they're in on Lebron.
Take that for what it's worth. |

LOL. They just showed some of the NHL draft prospects hitting off a tee at CBP. Not pretty. |

On McKeown,
"Liked his potential entering the season. I saw him early in the season and he struggled and I saw him a ton late, including in Finland at the U18, I didnt see him play a smart game all season. I saw a lack of hockey sense. One example is still fresh in my mind, watch the last few seconds of the Slovakia game in Finland. He almost allowed the Slovaks to tie the game with a mental blunder."

Pretty much, I still think he's a 2nd rounder but a team with a late first who has a good NHL roster & doesn't have to rush him can take the chance. |

This is the same team who shut down an airport to fly in Weber for a visit before signing him to an offer sheet. When they want to go stealth, no organization does it better.

Devils. The Devils could make a trade and if they didn't announce it nobody'd know for three weeks |

Yep, no leaks of the Hartnell deal that I know of. Interesting to see what happens.

He's going to have to get an exemption to play with a longer stick like Chara has.

And yet hockey Canada picks him for nearly every team, his +/- on a barely playoff team was fantastic despite scoring a good bit on the powerplay, and he is considered a first round pick by most. |

The problem there was the execution of the technique. He was late getting down, and the puck got to him while he was moving. The shot came from the correct area of the ice for using that technique, in my opinion. - MJL
now you're well versed in technique? i'm confused.
the execution was poor, but not just because he was "late". he essentially used an un-square wrap-around technique with paddle down, no real vertical coverage and holes everywhere.
the vh is really best used in 4 situations. the kane goal is extremely borderline as fitting any of them - in fact only one. the 4th scenario is a low net drive below the circle with or without a cross-crease pass option. the puck leaves kane's stick exactly on the bottom edge of the left circle as he's driving from the wing in a forward motion, with his body still in the circle while shooting. not only that, he's on his natural wing with a sharp angle to the net, and he's on the west side of the dot. he also had no real option to pass to the slot because the other blackhawk was covered. kane wasn't "driving the net" from that release spot. if he continued toward the goal below the circle from the side, then it would have been ok to use, if executed properly. leighton neither executed properly, nor used the vh in the right situation.

I mean, it's not like I didn't expect this, ya know?
We're talking about the Flyers here. They always look for the big free agent. Plus, this one's a puck moving Dman.
If they make a pitch for him, it'll be interesting to see what route they take.
