Maybe its just me but the Flyers defense is far too average for the amount of money spent back there. If im not mistaken its the most of any team in the league? If the Flyers add any defense in FA they need to unload one D-man if not two. Need to get younger and cheaper thats for sure.

The cap hit for Pronger does inflate the overall number of the group. The big question right now is who to pair with Coburn to cover the tough 5 on 5 minutes. I'm not sure that player is on the roster right now.

Are the Buffalo Sabers still scraping together the cash to buyout Ville Leino?

Basically, signing Quincey to Mez's cap hit. Could make L. Schenn expendable? Considering Luke's cap hit and term, he could probably get the most return on a trade (considering Coburn to pretty much be a lock on the team)

I was hoping this offseason we could watch other teams hand out the crazy UFA contracts and the flyers stayed quiet

but they started things with the crazy 6/23 Hartnell deal, which will end up being a good and prudent move

I would agree, and ultimately I don't think Hexy goes the Kimmo route. For me, a guy like Quincey has shown the ability to play a pretty good two-way at different stages in his career. It would be a risk signing, but considering the Flyers' cap and the inflated prices in the UFA market for d-men, it might not be that bad of an option.

I'd settle for better. The guys they have aren't that bad individually, but it's a bad mix and it's expensive. It's arguable that the lone bargain, prior to the Timonen deal, is Coburn
