I'm just surprised Leino isn't bought out yet. The compliance buyouts are pretty much a get our of jail free card. I'm now even more surprised I had to take the long route to explain something that didn't really need an explanation to begin with. - SuperSchennBros
Buffalo is apparently trying to "sell" their buyouts. I'd imagine Leino will get bought out asap should they not sell the CBOs |

Nitkin's cap hit was certainly higher then expected. However, with him only signing two years, if he plays well (he should get plenty of minutes in Edmonton), he'll still be only around 29 and could cash on another multi-year over $5 million.
Edmonton's going to have to overpay for free agents to play there. They're protected with the term, so it was a good move on their part.
Niskanen is going to get close to $6 million/yr, IMO. - ravishingone
definitely agree on all accounts. |

I read that some teams are trying to do this. I guess I'm waiting for the first shoe to drop to see if it's possible. |

The one thing that seems clear to me is that Hextall has a vision and he's going to go for it, his way. People can shred his moves, but if he thinks it's a fit, he's going for it. - Jsaquella
Benoit Pouliot is who he should target. Probably 2.5M on 2-3 year deal. Could play on Giroux's line. I think he would be a great pick up, and of course.... We must upgrade the D!! |

I honestly wouldn't do much up front now. I'd probably slide Schenn to LW, move Couturier to 2C and Read to LW on 1st or 2nd line.

It is apparently allowed. I'm not so sure we'll see a team go that route though. |

....I know what CBOs are. I don't understand what is happening.
This is what is now going to happen:
1. I'm going to say something like You said "are they scraping cash together", to which I responded by saying "They have a CBO, so they can just buy him out with no problems". I'm going to do this to basically rehash what happened, but also defend myself since you seemed to be a little angry at me and/or taking a passive aggressive approach here with the second part of your comment, in bold.
2. You also are probably a little confused with what is going on
3. We'll both be arguing with each other, simply because we both know exactly what is happening, but actually don't. Let me explain: we're both aware that a) Leino has already been CBOd; b) we both know what a CBO is and how it works; and c) we both realize I missed a joke
So, let's not do that, ok? Sorry I missed your joke |

I agree. Whether or not we're better or worse, we'll find out soon enough. I think we look worse. However, I am intrigued and I have the same lines penciled in. |

He was already bought out.
Also, I'm not expert, but I'd imagine "selling" buyouts is illegal as illegal can be |

I have the soundtrack. It is very interesting. George Martin's son worked on it, I believe with his dad (and others, of course).
That takes so much work.
Haven't seen the show...but I've seen other Cirque du Soleil shows before and they're nuts |

i know people will say oh the flyers could use another top 6 scoring winger. but its all relative. so could any team. i dont think the flyers will hurt in the scoring department. i feel as though hexy is going to be fairly quiet from here on out. if he could move vinny, im sure he would. other than that, i dont see anything major. i dont see him hamstringing himself with a big deal, and i dont see him moving the pieces necessary to get that young stud defender. |

There was a case last year, where TB would have traded Vinny to Toronto, had the Leafs buy him out and then re-sign him that was nixed. However, it's apparently legal to trade a player to another team and have them use a CBO. He just can't re-sign with old team |

I would like some speed with G to replace Hartnell.
You never know 10 could be moved to improve the blueline!
I would also look into Brian Boyle ..big body who can play responsibly

Highly depends what happens with the other centers on market. Spezza & Kesler may face a choice between expanding their lists or staying in Ottawa & Vancouver. Thornton has been saying he wants to stay in San Jose. Stastny will cost a ton. Who knows what Richards will take as a UFA after his CBO?
If a team gung ho for Spezza or Richards can't seal the deal, maybe they have interest in Vinny? |

Boyle wants to play a bigger (i.e. top 9) role. He's also probably looking to get a nice raise.I'm thinking a Dominic Moore type. |
