Sure. We'll know pretty quickly where he'll end up I think this upcoming year. If he isn't maintaining PPG pace, case closed. |

Ok. We swap VL to the Habs for Briere who at least only has 1 year left. When you want to ice a more defensive lineup, drop Danny to the 4th line and move Couturier and Boyle each up one. We also trade Grossmann for pick(s) and sign FFayne. If Laughton earns a spot, no prob, he plays wing and either Akeson or Rinaldo gets traded or waived. Lauridsen fills the 7th D spot and Greiss is the backup.

Well, Bill Meltzer (obvs).
I've always liked what Enrico Campitelli did with the the700level.com.
The kids at CrashburnAlley.com do a good job with Phillies baseball.
There are definitely better options other than Kyle Scott. And hell, if I really want fraternity hi-jinks mixed with my sports, I'll go to http://philly.barstoolsports.com/. |

It works if he has wingers that can move. Also they need some scoring. I sometimes don't know what to think. i mean Gomez got the rangers McDonough so I guess you never know. - J35Bacher
And that particular GM doesn't have a job anymore... Poile seems a bit too careful, conservative and calculated to go on tilt for a 34-yo guy w/ a bad back. |

That trade is pretty much a cautionary tale at this point for NHL GMs.

I like the ideas, but I think Fayne will want more money then that. So give Dominic Moore 1 mill to center the fourth line and give the extra money to Fayne. Also need Pronger on the roster until the 1st day of the season, so we'll be right up against the cap.

Very true.
However, you get the Flyers to eat 30% of Vinny's contract (3.15 cap hit, 4 years) and send back Stalberg (3 cap hit, 3 years), and your'e getting the much better player from Nashvilles perspective. |

Be even better if we could build a working time machine and go back in time and kidnap Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky and Nick Lidstrom all in their primes.

If you're willing to do that, then sure, maybe Poile might find value in that. But from a Flyers perspective, you just got rid of a 4th-line player making $4.5M, and received a 4th-line player making $3M plus you're still eating $1.5M yearly for the guy you got rid of. Might as well just keep Vinny then. |

So the team that deliberately tanked for Mario hires the guy who was suspended for an entire season for violating CHL player benefit/recruiting practices... match made in heaven? |

Vinny is not a 4th line player. Can we stop saying this already? If the season started tomorrow, Berube wouldn't have him on the 4th line.
Neither is Stalberg. But Stalberg is a natural LW with tons of speed, something we desperately need.
No doubt in my mind Stalberg can come here and earn 3m a season playing on our 2nd and 3rd line. He can produce offense with skilled players. I can't say the same about Vinny: I don't think hes capable of earning his 4.5 million on this team with the centers we have, and he cant do it at wing.
Not to mention, Stalberg doesn't have a NTC. If we got him and he had a decent season, we may be able to unload him next summer if need be to a team that needs a decent player and needs to reach the cap floor. |

Yes. I think we need to realize any deal with Vinny won't be perfect. But it needs to be functional. Not sure if right word. But just as an example say you only get back Del Zotto from NSH for Vinny. We might not need or even use MDZ but it is an asset we can they flip in a deal or we could sing him to a one year deal and if there's an injury in camp he can fill in. Myabe then he gets flipped at the TDL. But any deal for Vinny has to have some functionality in it. What your hoping for is getting some sort of asset or shorter term deal or lower money in a deal coming bck. |

Yeah, Alt seems to be the perfect example of what could really help the blueline. Mobility, size, puck handling competence. Hope he forces his way onto the roster somehow - mcefalu
I've only seen very little of him. But at the one preseason game I went to last year, there was a defenseman I didn't recognize who looked really poised out there and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Turned out it was Alt. Granted, it was one preseason game, but he looked good.
There was another guy out there I didn't know either. It was Vandevelde. As the season went on, I still didn't know (or care) who he was. |
