The Islanders have the fifth pick in Friday's draft and, rather than going into draft weekend looking to add to their prospect pool as in years past, Islanders general manager Garth Snow is looking to trade that pick for NHL-ready talent after an unsuccessful season.
"We're open to trading the pick for someone we think can come in and help us right away," Snow said recently.
I will laugh my but off if Islanders move that pick when local buffalo forum experts said it was a dumb idea. If Islanders want to move that pick call them up and offer Myers, the guy is a loser.
Yes, Girgensons is a future captain. |

If he's such a loser why on earth would the isles give up the 5th overall pick for him? Is that knowledge based on your 40 + years of watching Amerks games? (even though Myers didn't play a single game there). |

Apple isn't for lemmings. It's for people who like seamless integration, and hardware/software that is designed in house. It has it's pros and cons just like anything else. Naturally I respect your opinion, regardless of what you prefer.
I do agree with your last comment however. Jobs was one in a million, and without him, Apple is surely set up to fail. - sambarugh

I think because there is the hope it won't affect the '15 draft.
Once news breaks that it will impact that draft, the poop will hit the commercial sized fan. |

How? We have three picks in the 1st round. How exactly are we getting screwed in a season that hasn't even started |

Who is Tim? WGR is reporting it will affect next year's draft. Well they are reporting that people are reporting that anyway. |

because the last place team will now have even less of a shot at #1, and can move as far down as #6, not just #2. That's what they are saying anyway. |

1)Tim Murray...the GM
2) I'll take TSN's word over WGR
3) It's really only a big deal if you think this teams success is solely based on drafting McDavid/Eichel, which I really don't believe is the case. |

When did Murray say this? I've been away from radio for about an hour.
2. So would I.
3. It had a lot to do with their success going forward, IMO. |

lame sauce. Makes sense they don't wanna guarantee the worst team a top 1-2 pick. They wanna make it more fair i guess. it does kinda make sense... just sucks because it impacts are team the most |

Murray had said this a while ago, not today. I'm not going to worry about it until there is confirmation that it affects the 2015 draft.
A new lottery system for 2016 going forward is the most ideal system. I'm all about a system that at least tries to get away from rewarding failure as much as possible. |

THIS! We are set up with picks and prospects to compete with the best if are guys turn out. We don't solely need one of those two to be a top team. |

He said to Pierre Lebrun a while back.
You don't absolutely have to have McDavid/Eichel to be a contender. Plenty of other options and with three 1st rounders they'll be fine.
Any mock lineup I've envisioned for this team as contender has been sans McDavid/Eichel and I think it still looks favourable for us. |

Right, but today it just got approved and I see nowhere that it wont affect next years draft. Even on TSN |

Current TSN article mentions that they'l compress the odds in 2015 and then add more lottery selections in the 16 draft.
I can't imagine that the compression will even be that significant, otherwise I don't think it would be approved by the board. |

The NHLPA still has to approve it though, who knows what their thinking on it could be, they could just say no to just pi$$ off the owners |

It's baffling that a league this big would make a decision based on votes by teams who are only looking at their current situation. Any changes should be for 3+ years down the road. |

Folks in BUFF may be upset about proposed draft lottery changes, but any league that puts in anti-tanking legislation should be applauded.
wiener, when his Leafs lose out to a generational talent he won't be so preachy |

He hates the leafs just as much
The statement's not even accurate. The rule change for 2015 is that the odds will be "compressed" I'm guessing instead of worst team having 25% it will now have like 19 or 20.
Even if that's the case, finishing dead last still guarantees you Eichel, the real change comes in 2016 when they introduce the extra lottery.
Edit: source http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455770
" The league has proposed smoothing or compressing the odds among the 14 non-playoff teams for the 2015 draft and then increasing the number of selections determined by the lottery in 2016." |
