Why did they turn down re-alignment ? If the talent is not distributed evenly , Teams that get an abundance of talent won't be able to pay as much per player . Also the teams that don't have the wealth of talent , pay less out . That was the whole idea of drafts to make sure all teams have talent. Maybe they lower the age to free agency in exchange for approving this new draft proposal. By the time players get to free agency , how many good years do they really have left. The age it is set up now has not worked for anyone .
Our owner was willing to put out the money to have our own evaluation camps to have better success drafting . They saw how good a draft Buffalo had and rather than other teams doing it , they made it against the rules . So now we try to rebuild this way as other successful franchises did and they change the rules again . Fine change the rules but you have to give franchises enough time to adjust to them . You do not pull this crap when franchises are in the middle of rebuilding counting on the rules that were in place. - Maximum Signal
They changed the percentages last year and the union allowed it. So that's why I was wondering why they would not do the same this time.

All about the power . NHLPA will want something back in exchange for approving it . What will the owners give up if this means so much to them.

You have developed him this far . Another year under Nolan and his value sky rockets. |

It just makes no sense to me, they put in a cap to prevent teams from trying to buy the cup and now they put in rules so you can't take advantage of the draft. Not sure how many other ways there are to rebuild other than getting really luck on some lopsided trades. - BigStew
I want the sabres to get McDavid.
But in the long run its good for the NHL.
You cant have teams openly saying they want to tank..
People pay money to see these games. Teams are on NBC.
the draft will be still an asset to bad teams. but will make teams make trades and draft to get better |

Myers is an asset. Correct. And if we happen to have an opportunity to acquire an offensive stud straight up, or in a package, for Myers then we need to do it.
Our defensive depth will allow us to trade from a position of strength to shore up a position of weakness.
After all, there are no guarantees of McEichel. Especially now. |

I like Myers.. If there is a trade that makes us better u make it.
You give Nolan to much credit. He gets average players to give all. I know of no defenseman he has ever developed.. |

I don't agree that Murray has no ties to him. He's on Murray's team. If he feels that way, and I doubt he does, he would get rid of Girgensons too.

There are thirty GM's that get paid much more handsomely than any of us to figure out a way. I'm not going to shed a tear for them. Do I want the Sabres to land McDavid next year? Of course, I do. However, this notion that the "only" way to build a championship team is with a set of top 5 picks is false. Eventually, that trend will stop. |

Sad to see, TM hasn't even made it to his first draft yet and already his plan is imploding all around him!
First the league takes away McEichel !?
And now Vancouver is climbing the mountain to take our guy !?!
WTF is next?!?

no but its not a guy he drafted or traded for. girgensons fits the role of what murray said he wants. myers not sure. I am not a myers hater just saying if some made me a great offer I would move him I would move girgensons too. this team was horrendous last year. Everyone should be tradeable.. |
