I don't think that we get Stastny...
but I have a weird hunch about David Legwand... - JVince11
No way I want Stastny . Not right time for that type of signing.

He can't pull that. We own his rights now, so he can't sign anywhere else unless it's an offer sheet. When that happened before, it's because he was an undrafted college FA and had a few different offers to choose from. If he were to sign elsewhere, we would get some sort of compensation for him. - HonkFortheGoose
Good points . Not sure where my head was but the thought wasn't there. |

Ennis is due for a big raise too. Say $4-$5 mill per yr? |

I'd start off with:
Ehrhoff/Myers
Pysyk/Risto
McCabe/Webber
Bring guys up (like Zadorov & Grigorenko) up after the trade deadline. Seems like stafford, Stewart, & maybe even Ehrhoff could be deadline trade bait. - SuperCat
Strip 12 million off the cap? None the less more vets? Dunno about that. |

Zadorov isn't ready yet. And they've already said they're not going to rush guys into the lineup. They will not sacrifice their development. You'd be more likely to see them sign some journeyman 7th defenseman before you'd see them play Zadorov this year.
But, that is just my opinion and I could be completely wrong. - HonkFortheGoose
Chris Butler, Brookbank, Corvo, Engelland, Meszaros, Niskanen, Orpik, Pardy, Sarich, Jeff Schultz, Nick Schultz, Sulzer, and Tallinder
those are your vets in the market place. |

I doubt he would sign here anyway. He's probably looking to see if he can get an offer from a team that's a bit closer to winning the Cup than Colorado. Though, IMO, he should just resign there because that team is starting to get scary good. Just need to tweak a few things and they're right in the thick of being a contender every year. |

If I were to choose one, it'd be Tallinder or Orpik. Those guys are pure locker room purpose and #6 Dmen only. |

Stafford or Stewart stay... we need one of them... Just my hunch.
Stafford really bought into Nolan last year and played good for a big part of the year.
Stewart when he is motivated like he was in STL can be a very good power forward but probably not top line.

Sure the cap is a problem, but its a nice problem to have.
We can't just assume Stewart is looking to stay, and why let an asset like Stafford walk for nothing?
Those 2nd rd picks become nice assets when stocking the cupboards. |

Jussi Jokinen, but IMO he would be a hard player to sign if other playoff teams want him.

Still need more . They are way below cap . At least 1 more free agent - not big bucks but some to get to the floor . Word in Ennis is 4 years just over 21 million |

Jussi was only that good because he had Malkin and Crosby..
he comes here and he would revert back to just being a shootout specialist with no skill on the ice.
Kind of like Boyes was here... although miss-used.. his points were gone when not with other talented players. |

Didn't they change the way that the rookie contracts count against the cap? I swear they did. If so, that $$ for Reinhart (or whoever we draft) isn't going to be that high. |
