SALARY CAP: $71,100,000; CAP PAYROLL: $50,526,666; BONUSES: $1,325,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $20,573,334
I have Ehrhoff as good as gone so I didn't even include him... but with signing Moulson and giving Ennis a big pay day... Including Reinhart's 2nd overall size pay day
We are still 20M under the cap - JVince11
I don't think Reinhart gets 3.75 on Rookie deal . There are set limits . The mindset has been for months that #1 pick goes back to junior to get bigger and stronger . Murray Nolan do not believe in teenagers being here. |

Stewart is in a contract year . I think Nolan does for him what he did for Stafford . He is playing for his next contract this year.

Ehrhoff, 2015 St Louis 1st, 2014 39th overall
for
Brett Connolly, 19th overall?
Connolly has disappointed as a high draft pick so far. He's having trouble beating out the likes of Johnson and Palat and Filpulla. I don't know if it would be wise to pick up a mediocre Luke Adam type. - TheSabresTaco
Thanks for the info. Heard his name the other day and never really looked into how he has progressed. |

Last season everyone crapped. What if they all play above their "potencial" and we make the playoffs |

You are right, but at the same time so is he. A rookie doesn't make that much for a base salary, but with all the bonuses they can get, it could essentially equal that much.
However, I thought that when the CBA was renegotiated, the bonuses don't count against your cap until the next year, and there's a certain bonus cushion you're allowed. So no matter what, from what I remember, he shouldn't actually count that much against the cap either way. (I could be wrong though). |

Sure the cap is a problem, but its a nice problem to have.
We can't just assume Stewart is looking to stay, and why let an asset like Stafford walk for nothing?
Those 2nd rd picks become nice assets when stocking the cupboards. - SuperCat
Well now you're introducing variables instead of looking at it as a static issue. Sure, what we talk about here is conjecture and speculation and hypotheticals...
If you look at all the variables, it's going to be very difficult to release more than one of those guys, especially if you're not getting a veteran in return of equal or greater value. Our cupboards are going to be overflowing with kids without the necessary veteran presence this team needs to succeed let alone reach the friggin cap. If. If both of those guys are 100% sure they want to walk, sure they'll be traded for money in return. But I'm going to take a stab and say both of them are not 100% convinced. |

Stafford or Stewart stay... we need one of them... Just my hunch.
Stafford really bought into Nolan last year and played good for a big part of the year.
Stewart when he is motivated like he was in STL can be a very good power forward but probably not top line. - JVince11
It is a little odd, because Teddy really seems to have takin a liking to both Stafford & Stewart.
But I just can't see Staff fitting in with the plan. $4 mill for 16g's, on a guy who has already peaked? IDK.
I could do 3yrs @ $3 mill/yr... But even that is taking ice away from young players on my3rd line. |

Jussi Jokinen, but IMO he would be a hard player to sign if other playoff teams want him. - SABRES 89
I agree, he would be a good 2nd liner here in the future but my guess is he wouldn't want to come here unless he was overpaid and honestly I am not in that kind of mind set.

Then I gotta ask what's going on with the Jerome Iginla cap penalty because of his bonuses. |

Jussi was only that good because he had Malkin and Crosby..
he comes here and he would revert back to just being a shootout specialist with no skill on the ice.
Kind of like Boyes was here... although miss-used.. his points were gone when not with other talented players. - JVince11

Vince Jokinen played big minutes and in key situations with the Pens last season. He was one of their best players. Even his advanced stats are really good and I am not a huge advanced stat guy but his numbers are impressive. |

Personally, I groaned when Stewart came back last spring. He can't get out of our jersey fast enough, and performance in a contract year will reinforce his crappiness the past two, rather than change my mind.
Stafford's contract situation all over again if they buy high on him this year.

Highly debatable considering his extremely streaky past. Having two of the top offensive players in the league is a far cry from what this team can offer. Jokinen is a finisher, not a play maker. |

He had .7 points per game last year. He had 2 seasons with better production rate in Carolina.
I don't care either way, just pointing out that be was not better because of Crosby and Malkin. Also he shook the shootout specialist reputation in Carolina. |

His next contract could be between 3.5 and 5 million depending on his performance next season. History says he'll make around 4 but he's been too inconsistent for a big ass contract. We'll see I guess. |

Stewart is 26 but has not had the type of production as Stafford has
Stafford is 28 but we know how style of streaky.
I wouldn't mind seeing them both leave.. but we need a veteran on our top 6. I hope Moulson comes back too. |

I know that we set the record for most goalies played last year... who did he bust up? - JVince11
Hackett was one. I forgot the other. Both plays he was getting clearly beat and upended the guy. |
