Then I gotta ask what's going on with the Jerome Iginla cap penalty because of his bonuses. - TheSabresTaco
Boston is paying some big fines . But you never know . I think Jacobs has compromising photos of Bettman . That would explain a few things

His next contract could be between 3.5 and 5 million depending on his performance next season. History says he'll make around 4 but he's been too inconsistent for a big ass contract. We'll see I guess. - TheSabresTaco
I hated Staff and Vanek because they both are so streaky and inconsistent with their presence on the ice... but at the end of the day.. Vanek puts up great numbers but it is in spurts.
Stafford is the same way but in a much less fashion.
I want to keep one of Stafford or Stewart for their 2nd line RW veteran presence.
Stewart is also a pretty good fighter and power forward that we could use with Konopka and Scott not likely to come back. We don't have that guy who can win fights. |

Jussi Jokinen, but IMO he would be a hard player to sign if other playoff teams want him. - SABRES 89

Jussi was only that good because he had Malkin and Crosby..
he comes here and he would revert back to just being a shootout specialist with no skill on the ice.
Kind of like Boyes was here... although miss-used.. his points were gone when not with other talented players. - JVince11

Hackett was one. I forgot the other. Both plays he was getting clearly beat and upended the guy. - Buffalo-Sabres
I would have to say Enroth was the other one. I didn't see it, but he didn't finish the game and it was lower body. Lieuwen ended up concussed and Neuvirth was a hip. |

Stewart is 26 but has not had the type of production as Stafford has
Stafford is 28 but we know how style of streaky.
I wouldn't mind seeing them both leave.. but we need a veteran on our top 6. I hope Moulson comes back too. - JVince11
I have seen enough of staff, move on w/o him
I am ok bringing ott back for 3 years and give stewart 50 games to see if he can play here long term |

I think the smart build/rebuild is to 86 both Stew & Staff.
Hypothetically, lets just say that Ennis, Girgensons, Sam Reinhart, & Matt Moulson are gonna be 4 of your top 6 for the next 4 years...
Now add in McDavid/Eichel next yr (giving us 5 of our top 6 forwards).
...
That only leaves us with one "top 6 Forward" slot left. That's a highly valuable roster spot (prob even starter judging by that lineup). And I need a bigger gunner there than Staf or Stew. We need a 40g guy there!! (maybe that's when U package Ehrhoff & Hodgson?)
And we need that 3rd line open to develop youngsters like Foligno, Grigorenko, & Conacher. |

....... are you even listening to yourself?
Jussi Jokinen?? - JVince11
Why not? Decent two way game, good foot speed and puts up decent numbers. On a short term deal he'd be a good add for this team. |

Ott solves some of the power forward issues but in reality he is a 3rd line guy and 2nd line for BUffalo... he doesn't have nearly the scoring powers has Staff and Stewart though. |

Highly debatable considering his extremely streaky past. Having two of the top offensive players in the league is a far cry from what this team can offer. Jokinen is a finisher, not a play maker. - TheSabresTaco
He's just meh.
I'd rather just keep Stewart til the deadline than sign Jokinen long term

For those that were wondering, capgeek has MacKinnon's cap hit at $925,000. So that's the highest it'll be for whoever we draft, then the bonuses that they achieve will add on to the overall cap number for us at the end. |

agreed
IMO he is a third line player with second team pp/pk
he was over used here due to lack of talent
I think they need a vet on the blue line assuming hoff is moved

Jokinen went from 30 goals to 19, to 12 , then back up with Malkin.
Anyone who is frustrated with Stafford would be frustrated with him too |

Oh I know, I doubt they sign guys to 5-6 year deals though except maybe Mouslon.
I think Moulson and a minor 3rd 4th liner and maybe an Orpik or Scuderi might be the additions we see |
