Because you only play 1 goalie in a game you dress 6 D. So you need more D depth than goalie depth. There are 4 or 5 goalies in the Sabres system that could push for a starting job for the next 4 or 5 years there are only 6 or so D prospects that can push for a roster spot

I can round up a more amicable lot of pro d-men wearing the blue & gold. So much more promise in that particular pipeline as well.

Hmm sounds like he had someone in mind earlier.

Murray said he offered all three of our 2nd rounders to seven different teams to try and get back into the 1st round and couldn't do it.

Ullmark is someone I have liked, and Makarov carried the Amerks in the playoffs last year...not bad for a kid that went undrafted. It just goes to show how unpredictable goalies development are

He said he offered the same deal to 7 teams... Seems a bit odd to me 7 teams wouldn't take the deal.. Obviously we don't know where those 7 teams were in the order but I'd have to imagine one would have bitten.

Barbashev was projected around the 20's. No way he was giving up 3 2nd's to get him. Likely tried to get in the middle of the draft to take a guy like Larkin.
