Swap the draft picks and I'd say yes.

Neal + 22nd overall
Boedker, Hanzal, +12th overall

- YouMeAndDupuis9

Or skip the pick swap and PHX adds another roster player. (David Moss or Korpikoski)

So made the trade proposed earlier for Neal. Signed Hemsky. Sutter is stuck down there on the 4th line and would be traded in this scenario. Just didn't take the time to explore a Sutter trade that made sense. You get the picture though.

Constructive feedback welcomed.

Sutter not at centre?

I love the idea of Boedker. I think the penguins could do better with brining back guys like Stempniak and have Sutter as 3rd line C etc over Hanzel and Korpikoski. But still a nice idea focusing on depth guys to improve the atrocity that was our bottom 6. For me it's about also about getting younger and improving the farm.

What's all the love about over Kesler?

He is a good player and all but we have Sid, Geno and hopefully Sutter --> Kesler is not a third line C.

A trade for Kesler will very pricy and probably not worth it when you consider the guys they will want in return will be good prospects which happens to be our Defence (primarily) which we will need to step up and play this year on the back end.

Source? Or is this because he "liked" a tweet about a Kane to Philly trade?

Yea, I explained the Sutter thing at the beginning of the comment. He'd be a trade piece in that roster scenario. I like the idea of Neal for a lesser replacement on the second line (Boedker) and then two decent depth guys. You get younger. The cap situation isn't negatively impacted. Maybe not the perfect deal but that's the type of trade I'd target for Neal.

I've got to say, with all of this trade talk about Neal, they damn well better get back a legit goal scorer. Neal is damn near a point per game player. He's not perfect, but 40 goal scorers are rare these days and he's no fluke.

The Penguins aren't in a position where they have to trade him, they better be bowled over if they do.

penguins dont need to trade neal but if they dont, i'd put neal with crosby and malkin with kunitz. i had been thinking about that before but madden really talked about that these past 2 days. it made sense to me

Winnipeg would be stupid not to take that deal, if that is what the Fly guys offered for Big Buff. I hope Philly does get him, he is not that impressive to me, other than a big heavy shot.

I think Neal has a huge value on the market. He has similar #'s to Perry, young, locked up cheap for his production for 3 more years. That being said, The Pens have 87, 71, 14. All 30+ goals, Throw in Dupes at 15-20, BB at 20 potential, do the Pens need another 30+ goal scorer? We hear the dynamic of the team needs changed, Neal seems to me like he doesn't fit well with the rest for some reason. That and the stupid plays that come with him make him the odd man out. I think he has the best value for return outside 71 and I don't think that's happening.

If Kesler were a winger I would be more for it, but at a Center, I don't think hes necessary and there are others that could improve where the Pens needs are at most likely a cheaper price.

Kesler plays the wing all the time, he played the wing last year with the Sedins and that line was very productive. Torts then moved him to the 2nd line center to try to create a second scoring line... it didnt work out.

I am all for getting Kesler, I think he is exactly what we need. Big, tough, good shot, Selke level defensive forward, that is amazing infront of the net on the PP. He is also excellent in the faceoff circle, and can easily fill in at center if one of ours go down. Most importantly when playoffs roll around he elevates his game.

If we can get him I would, I just think he is going to Chicago or Anaheim.

getting kesler, especially at his age and his fragile past, would be a mistake. if he were still 25-28, i'd be okay with it.

but this is probably going to cost you sutter/bennet, pouliot, and 22... at least.

terrible asset management.

Name a Pen that doesn't have a fragile past. Martin and Letang played a combined season last year and they're our top 2 dmen. Top RW is 35 coming off knee surgery. I like Kesler and his style, I didn't realize he played W most of his career.

Also, Im not sold on BB. Like the rest of the bottom 6 last year I felt he was another interchangeable piece for the most part.

the difference with those guys is that we didnt have to give up 3-4 young assets to get them.

if we make trades like this, we will be the canucks in 4-6 years. might we have another cup? maybe. a big maybe.

but that is how teams like the red wings stay good for so long, they draft talent and develop it. they dont trade it all, they dont bring in old guys, they let the kids play.

beau bennett was misused last year. he isnt a bottom 6 player. he needs to play with talent in order to be talented. his poor luck with injuries can be frustrating. really thought an offseason full of training would do wonders for him.

Bertuzzi, Alfredson, Z, Datsyuk, Franzen, Samuelseon are all 33+ old dudes.

I have no idea what kesler would take, but iwould take him over Neal.

Keeping it simple:

What's the general consensus...
