So it's about style of play, not age then? Which is it? It's hard to keep track sometimes - funmaster18
He did say "offensive defenseman" in the quote you had so much fun trying to rip apart. So, yes. |

Yes, but Timonen is more then an offensive puck moving defenseman in the class of Streit or Campbell. - MJL
Yeah, like Streit Campbell doesn't even kill penalties.... Oh no wait, he actually led Florida in SH minutes. |

Anyone else thinking Pronger gets traded this offseason? Easy way for a bottom-feeder to make the floor without paying much. - jmatchett383
not sure he passes a physical |

It's both. I don't think it's a good move for the Flyers to add another 35 year old offensive defenseman, especially when trading a solid 2nd pair defenseman in MacDonald to do so. It's a bad move in my opinion. And that move doesn't compare to signing Streit or trading for Pronger. |

Not required, to the best of my knowledge. LA and Edmonton made a few moves where one player (Smyth, maybe?) didn't pass one. It's on the team to make that a contingency. |

who else besides Campbell and Kulikov was going to do it? |

Ek's rumor of Upshall for Vinny a 2nd and retained salary is well well over the price I would trade Lecav for. If that is the best he goes for I would keep him. Other opinions on that? |

I think Campbell is a better player then Striet is overall. So if you can move Streit and add Campbell without giving up MacDonald, then I might not be against that. Campbell wouldn't be leading the Flyers in SH minutes. He's an offensive puck mover. |

I think most are feeling that way. If it comes to that, hold onto him and play him as a 2C. |

Agreed. Sending a 2nd rounder out to dump his contract is a real tough pill to swallow |

The 2nd line Center market isnt as deep as we thought it would be. And that helps Vinny's value. Richards and Jumbo Joe haven't been bought out. Nucks and Sends are looking for big hauls for Kesler and Spezza. That leaves Statsny and Brad Richards as your UFA targets. Someone is going to offer better than that for Vinny. |

I think there's better options. There are worse things than having a 20-25 goal scorer in your lineup. After all, everyone liked Briere all those years. |

Key words: could be.
That is far too much to give up for a "could be" in my opinion. - hereticpride
Everything in sports is a could be...there are very few definites, its all about projecting talent. Hell the Richards and Carter trades were all about could be... Vorachek Coots Simmer and Schenn none of them were established as meeting there potential....Gotta role the dice and trust your eyes and your gut |

His trade value should be higher a little over a year from now when there's only three years and $8.5 million left on his deal.
Any trade where the Flyers are retaining more than $500K for the next four seasons sounds bad to me. |

Yeah, unlike Streit/AMac, he could actually step in and be that #1 all-situations dman they've been lacking. It's funny how he's still pegged as a one-way guy, after all these years of being great all-around. |

not this guy.
loved Danny in the play offs, not the regular season.
I actually don't have a problem keeping him.
what you have to worry about is if he gets injured again and plays 60 games and gets 15 goals.
then he might be unmoveable |

They just can't do that IMO. I'd keep
Him in the Shelley box until eventual injuries occur, make him earn the ice time. He needs to be told to get into the best shape of his career |

Agree
Worst case is the Flyers have the highest paid 4th line C in the league. |

I agree. Campbell just doesn't fit unless it is Streit going out. We talk about the mix. Brining in campbell with streit wouldn't be good. same as we talk about having too many thrumpers like grossmann and schenn. Guys like Kimmo and MacDonald i consider all-round d as they are not just stay at home guys but are mobile puck movers. But its not like the bring soo much offense they are offensive dmen either. |

I'd rather not bank on him being injured. |
