You have no idea how fun it is mocking that joke of a franchise. How anyone can have any form of high hopes for a team that just tied the league record for a losing streak and missed out on a top-2 pick is beyond me. - jmatchett383
congrats on whatever it is youre going for here bud |

They tanked all year for Wiggins. And they didn't get Wiggins. |

Having a defensive down low combo of Noel and Embiid might be the scariest the league has seen in a long time. Embiid's offensive potential, combined with his freak athletic ability really does mean that he is just scratching the surface. He truly is the total package for a C.
MCW is a true gamer.
Having a Greg Popovich trained Brett Brown behind the bench is also a fantastic thing. Look at how many in their prime, top of the world superstars the Spurs had this year. No wonder they were able to completely embarrass that team oriented Heat squad. - jak521
they are 100% following the Spurs blueprint.
and at the same time stockpiling assets like no other team in the league. If the mix or chemistry needs tweeking they have the assets, picks and cap space to change as they go - whether it be minor or major |

I'm not sure how not getting the 1st or 2nd pick in the NBA draft can be viewed as a slight against the team.
What exactly could a team do to alter that outcome? |

Who is better, Carle or MacD? - nails
Carle has the edge for one reason, his playmaking ability. Other then that they are very similar players. |

Just some things on sixers quick.
Brett Brown is not Pop.
Two big men both coming off injuries
ROY in one of the worst draft classes.
Front office just keeps laughing as they never talk to their fans or mdeia
Had one plan. To tank and get Wiggins.
The spurs are team oriented but they also have guys like Duncan, Parker, Ginobli and Leonard which helps the team oriented part. |

And because of that... they get rewarded with the best player in the draft... hands down. |

I agree, although MacDonald is a far superior shot-blocker as one thing that works to his side of the equation. |

I guess.
Also "they tanked to get Wiggins"....I hear this a lot but I've yet to find evidence that this was something the team said and not just some jumped up mantra put out there by annoying WIP personalities. If that's who we're banking on for information about teams now...we're in trouble.

the spurs have potentially 3 hall of famers - not to mention one of the best coaches ever. not denying that at all.
but their style of play can be emulated. their offense does not flow through one person, like the majority of nba offenses do these days. and they have always been a team synonymous with defense.
the sixers are assembling the talent to try to become that type of team, imo. |

So we get Carle lite for less at a good age.
That has a lot more value, IMO, than a near retirement vet, especially in trade value. |

i'm more intrigued by the fact she had breakfast with gary bettman this morning... walk of shame ? - -davies-
Well, if it were Homer... (just kidding Mrs Homer!!!) I thought I had said earlier this week I was invited as the last gasp of my Fan Advisory Board to breakfast and panel this morning. I'll blog it tomorrow. Giroux and Mason were there and were very funny with each other, which I'm afraid I am ill-equipped to capture. Homer and Tilger were there. There were no announcements of note. Although there was discussion of changes to OT for next year in attempt to have fewer games go to shoot out. The shoot out isn't going away. And the shoot out will NEVER be used in playoffs. I'll give you all a link when I get a chance to write. I'll be at draft tonight.
Oh, and there were a lot of really tall, really young, clean cut teens in the lobby of the Sheraton (the prospects and family breakfast was in another room). I think OB would have recognized them, since he's in tune with all the draft magic. But it's so hard to imagine than some of them might be in the NHL in the fall. |

I mean, they definitely tanked so that they could #togetherwebuild, and it's disappointing to miss out of their guy. But it's not like they're worse off than they were before. |

the sixers have the most cap space in the league.
2 guys that could have been #1 overall picks and can affect the game on both ends of the court.
a 6'6 rookie of the year pg.
and likely a top 6-7 pick next year.
they are completely en route to bringing this plan to fruition.
but please, continue to hate everything they are trying to do. im sure it must be fun. - Crimsoninja
It's Philly. A plan like this had a fruition rate of a negative percentage
I like it. Cause it's not like Exum or Gordon give me butterflies. But I am absolutely pessimistic about embiid sustaining a lengthy career |

And how do you know? He might not even play this year. You HOPE he is best player. - J35Bacher
He may not play this year. A navicular stress fracture is a fickle thing. Good that they caught it early and pinned it right away. Helps increase the amount of blood supply that gets to that bone. Dramatically reduces the rate of recurrence.
Now with that said.. He was hands down the best available player. Health was, and still is a concern, but the potential is worth the risk. |
