People don't realize that the Sixers traded away several first round picks for Bynum. They are top 10 and top 15 protected. If the Sixers kept Holiday and played things out, they would have been a fringe playoff team.

Turner would have walked, Hawes would have walked and the Sixers would be left with no 1st round pick. Where does that leave the team? 10x worse off than they are now. No big time FA is going to come just to have the opportunity to play with Jrue Holiday and Thad Young.

They aren't coming to play with injured bigs and mcw either

There is a huge difference between tanking and starting from scratch. Ownership wants a winning product. The "tanking" began last season when we traded our allstar guard for Noel and picks.

They are very analytic now. They will look for situation players, guys who do certain tasks, and they will stay the course. It might take a few years, but they cut their losses, saved a ton of money, and have the blue print for a potentially great squad.

My theory is they are trying to suck so bad that no fans come and Joshua Harris can sell them to the guy who wants a basketball team in Seattle and make MONEY MONEY MONEY.

Noel is healthy now, Saric has potential, Embiid has a chance to be the best player in the NBA and they will have another top 10 pick next season.

Well, if it were Homer... (just kidding Mrs Homer!!!) I thought I had said earlier this week I was invited as the last gasp of my Fan Advisory Board to breakfast and panel this morning. I'll blog it tomorrow. Giroux and Mason were there and were very funny with each other, which I'm afraid I am ill-equipped to capture. Homer and Tilger were there. There were no announcements of note. Although there was discussion of changes to OT for next year in attempt to have fewer games go to shoot out. The shoot out isn't going away. And the shoot out will NEVER be used in playoffs. I'll give you all a link when I get a chance to write. I'll be at draft tonight.

Oh, and there were a lot of really tall, really young, clean cut teens in the lobby of the Sheraton (the prospects and family breakfast was in another room). I think OB would have recognized them, since he's in tune with all the draft magic. But it's so hard to imagine than some of them might be in the NHL in the fall.

I want them to go with a safe pick. I'd rather find a solid player than take the chance on a home run/bust.

Valid point.. but there are a few guards 1,2,3's..

Emmanuel Mudiay, Justise Winslow... and being a huge Michigan fan.. Caris LeVert is gonna be a big player next year.. Stauskas being gone, LeVert is gonna be THE guy.

Fine by me. Barbashev is another fairly safe pick with a bit of upside.
