You know what potential gets coaches?
Fired
I understand what the sixers are doing. the whole NBA system is just flawed I think - J35Bacher
Absolutely. And the GM and coach have no pressure to win for at least 2 more years. And absolutely agree, the NBA is flawed and that's why their on-court product is awful. I can't stand a sport where you know who the final 4 will be at the beginning of each season regardless of what happens throughout the entire regular season and early playoffs. |

Do you think they make any deals?? - GOA88
I don't - I saw that CLB inquired about a top 3 pick and the team wanted Johanssen. That's way too pricey. Flyers would have to give up Jake or Read and another player. |

Word was Edmonton offered Eberle + 3 for 1. That's a steep price for 1, and it woulbd be even steeper to go from 17 to 3. |

As I've said before the following are guaranteed to happen at the draft tonight:
Bettman is booed. Loudly and often. He deserves it.
Maguire goes on and on about the how wonderful each and every draft pick is. He then informs us of where they went to preschool and the age at which they were potty trained. Finally he lets us all know how excited each kid is to finally meet Sidney Crosby
Someone gets traded to somewhere else. This likely happens more than once.
Each GM goes on and on about how they are so very fortunate to get JUST THE GUY THEY WANT with their pick.
At least 75% of teams will go on to trade JUST THE GUY THEY WANT within the next few years.
I will drink, a lot, during this dog and pony show.

Honestly, I love it. Yes I would have preferred Wiggins/Parker, maybe even Exum but in the NBA you can't win without a franchise player. Embiid was one of the few guys who has the potential to be one. In the NBA, you're either a top-4 contender or stuck in purgatory. I'm glad they committed to a direction. Also, Saric is a really talented player and getting back the 1st round pick the 76ers owed Magic in that deal is huge for future moves. I'm happy with their draft
Edit: Now it's time for me to be equally happy about the Flyers draft! - five4fighting10

Yes your right I think they blew it though I think they had to leave that draft with wiggins now they are set up to have a top 3 pick in a draft loaded with bigs no chance of signing a top fa I don't know I just don't get it |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers 2014 First-Day Live Draft Blog - bmeltzer
Flyers scouts are great at identifying market inefficiencies and exploiting them at the draft table... this year is tailor made for them. Kids from the Q, smaller kids, underrated kids, slow kids... I'll have a lot of confidence in whichever (forward) prospect that they ultimately settle on (in the 1st round, at least).
One of my favorite hockey days of the year, woohoo! |

Now that is a fair point, but don't you wanna see a lineup with Noel, Embiid, and Okafor? I was hoping they'd find a way to land Wiggins too. I have no idea what the future holds for that team. |

Didn't know the source, just saw the post here. I highly doubt Edmonton would offer that much and if they did, Florida would be crazy to say no. |

Supposedly his upside isn't at the level of either of those guys. JBo would be the best analog in terms of future... top-ranked, good at everything but not an offensive dynamo. |
