LA has no reason to trade roster players right now. Especially their good ones. Their window is now. Maybe he can get a pick from them for Grossmann or something. Not sure how much cap room they've got though.

Couturier won't be traded, barring some huge blockbuster deal.

Ek told me his closest Flyers organization source was being coy but strongly hinted something may already be done. No idea if it is minor or major, or even is more than a classic misdirection (which goes on all over the place).

A non-Flyers source told me Philly is one of the teams that will not draft Josh Ho-Sang no matter what -- even if he slides all the way down to them with the 48th overall pick in the second round. There are rumors that he might have talked himself right out of round one and actually might slide quite a ways down unless some team views the offensive upside outweighing all the risks.

Here's the thing: I have no doubt my source is passing along what the Flyers told him but there could also be a misdirection involved there, too. I don't think there is, though. At his press conference on Tuesday, both on and off podium, Ron Hextall mentioned "character" multiple times as something he values highly.

If we got Ho-Sang, could be an interesting rookie camp with both he and Stolarz in the same locker room.

Bill,

What is with that kid? He seems ultra skilled. Is he that cocky that teams just prefer to move on from instead of dealing with his attitude? Could he be one of those that would be unahppy and out if he didn't make the team out of camp and had to go back to juniors.

He has two and possibly three of the four S's. But I have heard his hockey sense questioned and that is a red flag to me a defenseman in the first round because that is something that really can't be taught. The THN synopsis of him as a guy who can't decide what type of defenseman he is or should be -- and it shows in some indecisiveness on the ice -- is pretty much in line with what I heard.

The real question, though, is this: Is that a hockey sense issue or just a confidence issue? If it's the latter, he'd be fine once he gets a real taste of success. If it's the former, he'll be plagued by inconsistency.

He won't make it to the Flyers' second round spot. I wouldn't mind Philly picking him if they trade down and can get him but I am reluctant at 17th.

They'd be OK. Those things tend to get forgiven if not forgotten.
