Hexy has officially made my sh&$ list. Passing on Kapanen for Sanheim. I know it is hard to predict futures but, really? Why not take the skilled forward when you need one? Not to mention if he is half the man his dad is.... |

it was really (frank)ing lame. and it backfired. even tock said at the podium "i told you it wouldn't work". i kind of hate him for taking that job. - hammarby31
i dont. hes going to be great.
when malkin takes a lazy penalty, it wont be dan saying okay, hey man. thats your journey man. whatever path you think is best for you.

I wouldn't ... with both Hartnell AND Simmer gone that would be a lot less grit on this team. - FlyerGuy
Im wondering if it was Vinny, Schenn AND Simmonds because it surely wasnt just Simmonds and a pick. |

im hoping. he just seems like a safeish third liner type to me. probably wont bust, but probably wont be a stud either. i would have rather went high risk/high reward with this pick this year |

Button had Sanheim at #8, and he fell to us at #17. Maybe like last year, we'll get someone like Barbashev in round 2 a la Hagg vs. Morin. |

Yeah, probably not going to set the world on fire, but he's likely not going to bust either. |

Kapanen would have certainly been a popular pick, and a good one ... but I have no problem stockpiling D prospects.
The Flyers haven't been able to draft competent defensive prospects since forever. They now have nearly a half dozen good young guys, and hopefully a couple of them can live up to their potential.
It's also much easier to acquire a skilled forward via trade or free agency than it is a top defenseman. |
