Seems like the build he has in mind is loading up on bottom 6 C, hoping that one of them will pan out as a 2C. - AlexF
Well correct me if I'm wrong but Boston has been a juggernaut with a very serviceable bottom 6 that included as many as 4-5C's at any given time.. I still hope we tank it next year and get a shot at 1 or 2 |

Not too bad!
Better asset management in the deals today than MG ever pulled off |

Honestly the Habs and Leafs are littered with them, especially the Habs since they've had more stars. Mark Messier is another one off the top of my head. There are a few that's for sure. - golfingsince
Yes, the teams with long rich traditions histories (and during the Montreal/Quebec draft proprietary protocol) seem to be have been much more aware/inclined to select local players.
One Vancouver player who does come to mind (and only because I had a chance to play with him in some summer pick-up games) is Cliff Ronning*.

I guess that's better than " You guys should know by now that we don't discuss particulars of trades, even those that were never consummated." or whatever the hell MG would say. |

A lot of Canadian prospects in our system now, especially at centre. |

Some other hometown heroes that come to mind:
1. Mike Vernon
2. Neal Broten
3. Cam Neely - Drafted by Van but turned into star in Boston
4. Too many from Ontario (leafs/sens) and Quebec (Canadiens/Nords) too mention
5. And of course the great Doug Lidster!
Can't read too much into it as for the most part most NHL cities dont produce any homegrown players let alone stars. |

Meat & potatoes are easy to acquire. Elite skill is scarce & expensive if you don't draft it when you have the chance. |

Many of us wanted him at #24 but Benning apparently isn't into Russians so I doubt he's picked at #36 even if he is available. |

I think he'll get a chance to rekindle chemistry with the twins. If another NTC is moved it will be Bieksa at the deadline IMO, and only if the Canucks are well out of it. |

Bieksa has got to be willing to go.... last time it was asked, he was not interested... he has character.... easily captain material... I don't think he goes anywhere |

So I heard. Guy sounds like a NA style player though. Also did anyone else laugh at McCann comparing himself to Kesler? Here we go again |

HOPEFULLY,
if not
1) Jack Dougherty
2) Brycen Martin
3) Ben thomas (Virtanen's Teammate)

Yeah, it was on after hours. He said he was a Canuck for life. Things can change in a hurry in this league though. |

Well, good riddance. Kesler was great when he was on, but he was a moody wiener when he wasn't. And the injuries had been a routine issue (Salo like in their terrible timing). Best of luck to him in Anaheim, but I honestly don't care much.
Garrison for a 2nd rounder is a bit of an odd choice though. He was a very serviceable top-4 guy with a monstrous shot. I didn't expect to see him go. |

So next year we are looking at....
Sedin Sedin Burrows
??? Bonino Kassian
Higgins Matthias Hansen
Dorsett Richardson ???
Bieksa Hamhuis
Tanev Edler
Stanton/Sbisa/Corrado
Lack
Markstrom
Hopefully Hunter and Bo shine in camp and get a legit shot. We could definitely move a few more guys though.. Need to get that lotto pick next year |
