So I heard. Guy sounds like a NA style player though. Also did anyone else laugh at McCann comparing himself to Kesler? Here we go again

Barbashev definitely is not a stereotypical Russian forward. Seems to be an inventive playmaker from the wing which has also been in short supply.

The "meat and potatoes" comment makes me a bit suspicious. I'm wondering if Benning was that solid hockey guy that had a decent eye for the game but needed a Chiarelli to overrule him from time to time.

“Jared is a highly skilled and creative playmaker, he has excellent hands and puckhandling ability. He sees the ice very well and can get the puck through traffic with great saucer passes.

“He is not a guy who will always bring you out of your seat but is dangerous every shift and at the end of the game he will quietly have a goal and three assists. Jared is an excellent penalty killer, smart and reads the play very well.”

So next year we are looking at....

Sedin Sedin Burrows
??? Bonino Kassian
Higgins Matthias Hansen
Dorsett Richardson ???

Bieksa Hamhuis
Tanev Edler
Stanton/Sbisa/Corrado

Lack
Markstrom

Hopefully Hunter and Bo shine in camp and get a legit shot. We could definitely move a few more guys though.. Need to get that lotto pick next year

Jensen's gonna play for sure. Maybe they'll make a play for Stastny ?

I have to tell ya, I'm more excited about him than Virtanen. I would have much preferred Ehlers at that pick.

"McCann is a dynamic forward who can play down the middle or on the wing. The Stratford, Ont. native is a relentless possession player who can menace the opposition with his excellent top-end speed and acceleration. McCann is a true goal scorer and has natural offensive instincts and outstanding finishing ability. He is prone to going through stretches where the puck doesn’t seem to go his way, but McCann is yet another forward in this draft with excellent upside at the NHL level."

I guess it depends JB thinks we can win now.. we can't compete with the best in the west still over a 7 game series and Stastny wouldn't put us in a position to beat LA/ANA/CHI imo.

I kinda think we may actually go after Miller or Hiller as a stop gap while Lack develops. Hiller preferably on say a 2 year deal splitting time with Lack..

The comparison of Jared McCann to Krejci makes me leery, as we drafted a supposed Patrice Bergeron comparable last year... Boston model in full force

Funny that we took a faller with our late pick in both this year and last year's draft. Seems like great value at this point for those picks. I'm looking forward to rounds 2-7 tomorrow.

Looks like we will absolutely have no shortage of 200 foot 2/3C's

C's can always play the wing
I'd rather them load up on 2 way centres honestly. Always seem to be in demand around the league.

Ehlers would have been nice at 6 though

Yeah, no use for Sestito. I'd much rather a youngster learn the league 4th line wing.

Only if he can earn it. I like the idea of an open competition for it.

I also don't want to overpay for Boyle.

Me neither. Sounds like Benning will be very active in free agency though...

I'd overpay for Stasny for 2-3 years.

Stastny could likely get at least $7x5 somewhere, so at 2 years we'd need to be paying him around $10+ mil per year to make it worth his while .

Are you guys seriously disappointed? Virtanen and McCann? You guys robbed the draft.
