Forsling:
I really like Forsling. He is a smaller PMD, really excelled on the PP at the U18s. He and Nylander seem to toy with the opposition with the way they moved the puck. Never hesitates to shoot. Good skater, makes a good first pass. I thought he was the best Swedish D man at the U18s.
I thought he was above average. But obviously not a big guy, not aggressive. Needs more strength in battles and coverage in front of the net. But he is what i'd consider a smart player at both ends of the ice.

The old LA blogger Berry says LA just stole a gem from Canucks - VANTEL
Yeah, McKeowen was projected as a late 1st/early 2nd dman with 2nd pairing upside. |

Kyle Pettit? - VANTEL
Apparently not a "meat and potatoes" guy, doesn't use his size physically as he should. And here's a quote from someone's who's watched him again:
Didn't like him in the OHL. Limited potential, mostly defensively. I don't know if his puck skills will be enough to get him to the NHL. Good at protecting the puck and plays a very safe game. |

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Big First Day at the Draft—Change Has Come
The Vancouver Canucks continued their franchise overhaul in earnest on Friday, completing three trades and picking up two new prospects in the first round of the NHL draft. - Carol Schram
Love the changes and picks so far. More than anything it's change and that's what all of us said we wanted and is what they said they'd do. They're not done but when you look at the youth they have today compared to a couple days ago, it's much more promising.
Bonino, Sbisa, Vey, Demko, Virtanen, McCann, etc., added to Lack, Tanev, Corrado, Kassian, Jensen, BoHo, Shin, Fox, Gaunce, Cassels, Hutton, etc., and there's something to look forward to.
The thing I'm looking most forward to is seeing a tandem of Cederholm and Tryamkin patrolling the blue in the prospects camp. Trymakin is an absolute beast! |

Sounds like a waste of a pick to me from what people have watched him are saying to be honest. Other picks all have some upside though IMO. |

Yeah, WTF... A big body who doesn't use it & has zero offensive skill?
Guessing it's the kid of a family friend of Benning's or Desjardins' |

No such thing, you're absolutely drafting on future potential right now.
About 5 kids out of the last 60 manage to even play 100 NHL games, rarely does a late rounder crack 500 games....RARELY!!! |

Lets be very clear about one thing. This so called 'franchise overhaul' that everyone is talking about would NOT be happening if it were up to the Canucks brass.
Benning has made it a little too clear that he would have 'loved' to see Kesler remain. So if Benning had his way, Kesler would still be here and the only guys gone are Booth, Garrison and some prospects. WOW, so much for an overhaul then.
The point is that before we get so excited or so down about Kelser being gone, let's never forget that this was something that the player FORCED the organization to do.
Kesler, by the way, has it right: this team is ways away from winning the cup. |

You could be right, but he's gone so no point in speculating. Didn't you say that this team was gonna keep all of the core and try to sign a UFA? 2 core players gone so it seems like you're wrong. And according to a poster with supposed "sources" another Canuck players was also asked to waive besides Garisson and it wasn't Edler. Has to be one of Hamhuis, Bieksa or Burrows...my guess is Burrows.
You were wrong.

Did you expect Benning to say He is a dirtbag ,now what is your best offer?
I posted a Botchford link earlier in this blog and Benning admitted he was arguing with Keslers Camp twice a day.
He is thrilled that it is over |
