I wouldnt mind brendan lemiuex at all to be honest. Good bloodline and seems to have that fire his dad had. Seems like the type of player that would give it his all every night. Pretty sure he would be a fan favorite too. |

Im hoping they go the the pure skill route today. We don't seem to have many of those types of players anywhere in the system, and even very few on the the big team itself.

With Laughton likely to make the team that makes Nick Cousins the top forward prospect in the system.Let that sink in for a second. I don't even want to think about naming a top five. They have to move up here and make some sound picks at forward. |

“We made our pick and got a call right away [from a team wanting] our guy for two picks,” said Ron Hextall.

I doubt they move anywhere. If they do, I think they'll move down. There's so much parity in this draft. I'm not overly excited about anyone in the 2nd round. Just take BPA again, even if its a defenseman. |

Don't mind the pick, could be a home run, probably a bit of a reach. That makes two years in a row which is fair to question the decision. I personal feel fine with it but understand the fan uneasiness.
Today I would love to see Viny traded to Fld and our 2nd for theirs. Then take one of the forwards that slipped out of the first round.

True but the following forwards are 26 or younger at the start of next season:
Giroux
Voracek
Simmonds
Schenn
Couturier
Raffl
Akeson
Laughton
Rinaldo
While I'd love to get a forward in the 2nd round, I'm still very happy with the choice of Sanheim in the 1st. Also it is much easier to fill a hole at forward via a trade or free agency than it is to fill a hole on D. |

As long as FLA is taking the whole VL contract/cap hit, I'm fine with that as Upshall has only 1 year remaining at a 3.5 cap hit. |

If that's what it costs to get rid of the whole deal/cap hit, I can live with it. |

I agree. However I do believe its important that the Phantoms remain a well balanced team. Having our D men down there pinned in their own zone more often than not could really start to mess with guys development, D men and Goalies included. |

If It goes down like that, I'll make time to come pack Vinny's house
But somehow, I have a feeling it won't be that simple |

Well at least they have some top notch mobility on D down there, especially for an AHL team.
Ghost, Hagg and Alt are all very good skaters and with Murray at the helm, you know the forwards will backcheck responsibly. I'm not worried bout them being pinned in their own zone, I'm more concerned that they lose a bunch of 1-0, 2-1 games. Hopefully they land one or 2 minor league vets that can score to help balance out the club. |

You know, even if they have to send Vinnie and pick #48 to FLA for Upshall and their 4th rounder, I'd do it happily if that gets Vinnie fully off the books.
edit: they could then buyout Upshall and only carry a 2 year cap hit of 1.166 million, which would free up 3.334 million on this years cap. |

I'd imagine Florida would want to wait and see if there's someone at 48 they like before agreeing |
