I'm surprised he hasn't taken a goalie yet. They could use a lot more organizational depth in that area.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah, no big deal if they don't, though. You're just as likely to get a good one by signing an older guy out of Scandinavia than digging one up at any point in the draft.

It seems like a lot of these picks follow the same theme of "being on the upswing" because their previous rankings were much higher than their current rankings.

Hexy says goalies are not important.

unless there's under 2 minutes left in a 2-2 playoff game against a team that will go on to be a constant nemesis for the next 20 years

i always thought clarkie's refusal to EVER get a true #1 goalie was strange considering how vital bernie was to those cup teams.....very weird stance, unless he was trying to be funny

Weird too because he comes from an organization which does value goaltending. Quick signed for a lot of money and Bernier was a 1st round pick.

Jesper Pettersson:
http://www.eliteprospects...m/player.php?player=28988

Pettersson is a defensive defenseman. Although small in stature, he is very stocky and plays like a much bigger man. He likes the rough stuff and blocks shots. Might also have some offensive upside.

5'9... sounds like Mike Weaver.

Rounds 5 and 6 picks are very encouraging... didn't throw them away on a high school kid or goon or guy that won't come over.
- Tomahawk

I think the Russian guy has already been drafted by a KHL team. I don't know what he's going to do right now, but he's got that option.

Was he there when they drafted both of those guys? I can't remember.

They have heeter and Stolarz in the system now, I would be shocked if they don't add 1 or 2 more goalies somehow before the 2015 draft.

All in all I like it. Much better draft than last year.... Especially the 5-7 picks.

I wanna say good for the teams that were able to pick up talents in the top five but they're the same teams as each season. Edmonton, Florida, Buffalo, just the status quo. Who knows when and if these three will ever be contenders again.

As for getting better from a Flyers standpoint. It's not gonna happen in a day and especially not at the draft. However I was hoping to see at least one move that made us a better team right now. Personally I feel you have every right to hate the trade for Umburger as much as others have the right to like it.

Does anyone have any idea how good Travis Sanheim is in his own end?

It's maddening isn't it. Makes you wonder why the need for work stoppages to subsidize these teams is so important, when its obvious they wouldn't be missed if these teams dissolved anyway.

Good enough to be counted on in all situations at U18 for Canada.
