34 pts 79 games playing with two high end players.
He wouldn't sniff those numbers here, everyone would be female doging about how he's a typical russian and that we should have take Risto.
Between the two of them (Ristolainen, Nichushkin) Risto would have a better chance of succeeding (and not defecting) here than Nich would. |

You're on a message board dedicated to some of the most passionate hockey fans, if you don't find people voicing their opinons, something is wrong. - ImNoTroll
I don't mind their opinions, I was just wondering if the majority of us watch JR hockey because I don't. |

34 points would have tied him for 3rd on the Sabres. He was also a +20. All of this as a rookie. 6'4" 205 lbs. People need to stop being so worried about Russians defecting. Both Nichushkin and Barbashev are not the stereotypical soft, lazy Russians. |

My point was he wouldn't get anywhere near those numbers playing on a team that doesn't have Benn and Seguin to put him with.
I don't think that of europeans and russians but a lot of people do and they would be all over him this year same as they were/have been with grigorenko.
Long term Ristolainen=Nichushkin anyways, doubt either one will be far better than the other. |

Brycen Martin may be a huge steal, in round 4.
Kid had first round potential, and was touted as such, but slipped due to a poor 2nd half. |

My life is busy so I'd like to ask the "experts" here what they thought of this draft by our beloved Buffalo Sabres.
I just don't have the time like some here to follow prospects etc.
Grade it if you will? |

Would have looked better with one of McKeown or Dougherty |

B+ overall
They did well considering the depth this draft lacked. Took some chances on a few mid round picks that could be hits or misses so we'll see how they turn out.
The main goal here was to get a #1 C so mission accomplished (on paper anyways). |

I love how people can watch a few you tube videos and they are experts . These scouts , our GM and asst. GM put 100,000's of thousand of miles on the road seeing these kids and thousands more hours watching video. I am inclined to take thier word for a few years till we can at least judge their picks . Or at least till the prospects camp . Not ready to fire anyone yet . By the way this is not directed at you . Just backing up your position.

3. Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres drafted center Sam Reinhart No. 2 and he could end up playing among the team's top six forwards next season.
Claude Lemieux's son also a fiery player
Plus, second-round picks Brendan Lemieux, son of Claude Lemieux, and Eric Cornel were rated as first-round picks on some lists. It's like they landed three first-round picks.
Lemieux had added value because he is a disruptive presence on the ice, just as his father was. He will be excruciatingly painful to play against.
The Sabres are putting together a strong collection of young talented players. They are going to be struggling Sabres for another season and a half and then they are going to be like the Chicago Blackhawks. |

That's nice to hear, and based on what we have - and seem to have - going forward:
1) Our 2nd and 3rd lines are going to be loa-oa-oa-d-d-d-ed (love me some Ron White)
2) The D should be dominant, to say the least
3) By adding yet another promising goalie in Johansson, one or two of these guys will emerge and take the crease
4) Reinhart gives us a legitimate top-level player for our #1 line
However - and I know this is no secret and I know we're all banking on next June - we still need to add another one or probably two top line guys, either through the draft or trade.
Our depth is going to be phenomenal, and as teams like Chicago and Boston proved, depth kills.

Tim Graham @ByTimGraham 1m
Sabres headed in right direction, but NHL sources say it's imperative they hire a new player development coach.
IMO, this is our biggest hurdle, and what will ultimately make or break this rebuild. |

I am wondering if that is being done in conjunction with all the hires at the new Harbor Center . Would make sense . Can't wait for free agents to see our facilities next off season . Should give us a better shot in landing better ones. |
