I hate that people are saying there's no superstar in this draft that's a load of crap no one knows... The Kings don't have any offensive superstars... Kopitar I guess but I think Reinhart could easily be as good as him in terms of point production.. Crosby's and Ovi's don't win you cups. - bluengold12
Umm Drew Doughty?
He's a defensmen, but he's still a superstar and as for Kopitar, he's got quite the supporting cast around him and they acquired that supporting cast using two top 5 picks. |

I can't imagine anyone would want to stay in Buffalo if you're a team that is aiming to be so bad it gets McDavid - digitalbath
or Eichel...aiming or just the timing of their rebuild. Just like the Penguins and Blackhawks re-tooled when Crosby, Malkin, Toews and Kane were at the top of their draft classes. |

What if the team is actually pretty completive and good? Good enough to not need a generational talent?
I know that is crazy to say, but... - rmiethaner
We just need that one player to take us over the top ..
and i think we will sign kane
2016 we will be very good |

Superstar is a big title to thrust upon a player who wasn't even a consensus 1st pick in a relatively weak draft class. |

It's closer to fact than opinion, those who are patient in building a team find long term sustained success. (La, Chicago and now Columbus potentially)
Those who are trigger happy and want a 1 year rebuild turn into the Leafs and Sens, and that brief period where Calgary thought Dennis Wideman was a good idea - Sabresfan-365
LA is different from any team. Don't want to call them the "model franchise", but they did well.

But if we had picked Bennett, he'd be the superstar to put us over the top in an underrated draft class, right?

Well that's your opinion because we already have good young players that rae in the system already and adding what we got in this draft is a good sign. you don't need a 3 year rebuild, how long can you possibly rebuild. People are going to be upset come July 1st |

All there core pieces that led to a stanley cup were either key, high draft picks or were brought in by trading some of those assets (something Murray has brought up often in his interviews). That's the approach I want the sabres to take, patient but when the time comes sack up and make a big play. |

Sounds like you mean tank to nail a top draft pick... Then try and win after. All I'm saying is even if you had McDavid and Eichel, if the teams True core belief isn't trying to win first and draft second. You won't keep players who are worth a damn.. |

Read the fine print my friend.. I said superstar forwards and chose that word very carefully. They only drafted once in the top 5 and yeah they made smart trades which is what we have yet to do |

Even if that's true, you still have to give them time to grow that's just part of life.
And I'm sorry but you're wrong, once Callahan signed with the lightning I declared us victorious in free agency |

No, as I said there was most likely no superstar in this class but I'm pretty sure Calgary will be quite happy with their pick. I hope the Sabres are too. |

Not true they only had 1 pick in the top 5 Doughty. Most of the players were from trades maybe FA as well. Brown and Kopitar were drafted but higher. |

I did, my point was you still need that superstar no matter what the position and even though I like Reinhart, calling him a superstar is a stretch.

Brayden Schenn 5th overall traded for Mike Richards
Jack Johnson was acquired from Carolina (3rd overall) and then moved for Jeff Carter |

Your essentially making my point.. LA doesn't have any superstars.. They've won two cups in the last 3 years.. Doughty is a superstar but on the D no superstar forwards and excuse me if I project Reinhart to be a better overall player than Kopitar. What LA did that Buffalo has yet to be able to do is trade for some proven players in the prime of their career. Likely cant do that until some of their assets prove a little bit more so we can ship some of them. |

I said on many postings, the Sabres wanted Callahan but Callahan wasn't to thrilled with coming to Buffalo. Now on to Moulson. |

I don't think you need that super star. Boston doesn't have one LA has one on defense not on offense.. Chicago.. Okay yeah they've got 2 possibly 3.. but a complete team with 3-5 very good players forwards/D is good enough with 4 complete lines and good puck possession. |

Bring him on, as long as it's not an insane contract I doubt anyone will be uspet with it.
IF he's here on 7 year deal I'll lose it though |

If they develop him like Gringo we are in trouble, if he's ready fine if not he should not be here. They already screwed Gringo up. |

When they won the cup, Chara was a superstar and Thomas played like one in goal.

Your throwing that term around loosely.. I'd say there's maybe 10 -15 MAX superstars in the league..
Chara ain't one of them... he plays well but screws up A LOT in his own zone. Thomas played like one yes but doesn't mean he is one. |
