Who even knows if Shanny knows what he's doing, lots of great players have made great managers, and lots haven't... - aminnes
No doubt. I never get excited when a player steps into a spot like this. We get told on how they knew what it took to win on the ice and now they will do the same off the ice. blah blah blah |

yeah, i'm really just talking about that contract and it's pretty obvious that nonis is thinking the same as you or he would have been moved
i think the leafs would be fine even if they dumped him for a mid pick - Flyfreaky
wtf is wrong with the contract? he'd get that on the open market. and don't give me that its too long crap.
Boyle's gonna get 6 now at 35
what would he get if it was 7 years from now |

Just watched the interview with Nonis after they picked Nylander. He said they had two players they were keen on and would have traded down if neither were available, Nylander was one of them. He also said they paid attention to how he played against Team Canada and Team USA at the U18's to see how he stacked up against North American players. Leads me to believe he was high on the Leafs radar for a while.

The Leafs always pay the maximum dumb open market prices, even with their own players... |

the point is the leafs don't need dion
would you sign him to that contract if he wasn't already a leaf? |

Days leading up to Draft Day, UFA day, TDL we're all brothers and love talking about what the Leafs are gonna do and what we hope will happen.
Days after Draft Day, UFA day, TDL we are all at each other's throats because it didn't go the way we built it up to.
I still like you guys, I even still like the Leafs. But seriously, what is Shanny's job? What's the description of it? Does he tell Nonis what to do? Is he like mega-GM? - weirdoh
Hockey operations man.
How the team is run. How they train, theyre scheduling. Keeping everyones head positive. He's here to get the best out of the team we have while they see if he can be a GM. |

I see. So basically Nonis has a potential replacement breathing down his neck. |

He fades the last 20 games because he cannot play 25 plus a night and hang in. That means he isn't at the level of the 7 million dollar d man. Meaning he is a 22 minute guy and worth 4-5 million tops... - aminnes
Most 22 minute guys are in the 6M plus category now. |

Holland doesn't belong on the 4th. Nylander I'm uncertain will be ready for 2nd line minutes, but he has the confidence and swag for it already.
Bozak and kessel are always together.
Kadri is our second liner.
Gards is staying as well.
O rielly and moulson will never happen.
It's a nice dream through. We'd be MAYBE playoff fringe team.
Oh yes.. Clarkson. |

Basically. Either that or to make him nut up and make some moves, or he steps in, like Tim used to do. |

No, it's market value.
Generally, if and when we have two guys capable of playing top pairing minutes, that's when we should trade/dump or whatever with Phaneuf. Let's be real here, he didn't cost us a thing to acquire.
And there is still potential there to get a return. And even if there isn't, it's not our money.
