so with our glut of high picks; we've drafted two centers, two wingers and a dman
do we think that's enough, or do we need a few more years of high picks before we're set??/ - hugefemale dog77
If from here we went full Kessel and traded a 1st or two for a dman, what kind of guy do we get? |

Gagner + 2015 1st + gernat for staal
Klefbom + 2015 2nd + Perron + pick/prospect for bogosian + Kane (don't give a sh!t if you hate Kane). Is this enough? Seeing what Neal went for maybe it is?
Hall nuge ebs
Kane staal yak
Kulemin lander arco
Hendricks Gordon pitlick
Marincin petry
Nikitin bogo
Ference Schultz
Nurse and leon develop
If staal goes ufa leon should be ready. If we show improvements maybe he stays. To me he'd be huge for yaks development.
Hate on folks
Edit: maybe the Kane bogo trade isn't enough. But those are the moves I want - ystoil
All I'll say is that this team would have a top 10 pick in the draft. The bottom six isn't nearly good enough

no hate. at least for the first proposal.
stall's still an elite player without a doubt. it's a way to try and be far more competitive this year. which is huge after a disastrous last season.
but the worry of a guy for only two years while giving up a first is the obvious concern. still could absolutely be worth it though. even if he did walk. - hugefemale dog77
If we are out of the playoffs (which I pray we wouldn't be) can still flip him for a first and prospect I guess |

Well, what we don't know is MacT's plan. If he feels that we're still needing time to develop our young guys, which in a lot of cases we do, then he might not be willing to trade either Ebs or Yak for other pieces. He's been saying that he'd like to see 3 scoring lines. We have the speed and skill but not the strength to sustain an attack. Most 3rd lines are a combo of defensive strength plus the ability to counter-attack, but we don't have that with our group yet. So, I suspect that he'll try to plug holes with UFAs and be patient with development. Next year there could be some bigger wingers in the market to address needs.
Meanwhile, I think he retains the #1 in '15 because we'll probably still have a high draft position. |

Well, that was assuming we strikeout in ufa. We could fill those holes better in the ufa marker |

Grabovski Pouliot Kulemin and jussi jokinen could do that. |

gotta think that until proven otherwise, teams are still gonna believe that it could be a very good pick.
on the other hand, it's not a rock solid commodity. (could be a lottery, could be middle of the pick)
we'd absolutely be looking for a guy that can play on our top pairing or why bother right?
but probably a guy with a few drawbacks. a stumble in development or a worrisome contract. or maybe some struggles in a defensive facet or two.
myers, phaneuf, edler, yandle etc.
people will certainly point out that groups flaws, and they wouldn't be wrong. but I don't see us getting a sure thing. and all would help immensely.
I also think that in a lot of cases, the risk/reward is totally worth it |

Still need size on the first 2 lines IMO. Grabo did well last year with 2 hulking wingers in Ward & Chimera & occasionally Brouwer but he'd need similar size & skill on the wings with us.

Limited market. Has to be a cap team or rebuilding team. Either the player is not available or maybe a big risk on the price (Myers) |

If we want Myers and Foligno, what are we talking about here? 2015 and 2016 1sts? Steep price to pay for this future.

Why not try for Sharp and Oduya or Leddy? Considering the lack of cap space that Chicago has right now, might be able to get those guys cheaper than Myers and Foligno. |

I'm not so sure it would be that high, considering the need to get some cap space. If they didn't need the space, then sure that would probably be the cost. |

I didn't realize those were his wingers. interesting.
ive never been much on the grabo train other than I heard he was a package deal with kulemin whom I do like.
I think he does more for us than gags can as the far superior skater, but I wouldn't sign him to anything over a couple of years |

May be late but I really like the Lagesson pick
Gotta chance to watch Frolunda and their junior team a lot while I was overseas, he's really solid player fundamentally and pretty effective at both ends of the ice. (skating could use some work but w.e). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the pick. Dare I say Kronwall-lite (perhaps very lite )
I'm excited to see what he can do in the USHL next year |

I don't mind older goalies actually. It's still a relative question mark for us so anything that's more assured is fine by me. |
