May be late but I really like the Lagesson pick
Gotta chance to watch Frolunda and their junior team a lot while I was overseas, he's really solid player fundamentally and pretty effective at both ends of the ice. (skating could use some work but w.e). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the pick. Dare I say Kronwall-lite (perhaps very lite )
I'm excited to see what he can do in the USHL next year - Sabresfan-365
Good to hear. Never saw him but did a bit of reading and actually does sound like kronwall in a sense. Very physical apparently. I'd prefer he go to the chl |

I don't mind older goalies actually. It's still a relative question mark for us so anything that's more assured is fine by me. - Morris
Seeing what it cost us to acquire Scrivens and Fasth it's probably better to trade for goalies. |

If we want Myers and Foligno, what are we talking about here? 2015 and 2016 1sts? Steep price to pay for this future.
Hall-Nuge-Eberle
Foligno-Draisaitl-Yakupov
Perron-Arcobello-Lander
Hendricks-Gordon-Pitlick
Nurse-Myers
Petry-Marincin
Schultz-Klefbom - Morris
change lander to a winnik/downie and that team makes me pretty happy.
i was just throwing out names that have been discussed recently.
i look at their lineup and id be surprised if they moved either myers or foligno.
make a play for ehrhoff? hes gotta be available. and possibly for a reasonable price

but those are still question mark goalies.
generally speaking; the price's, lundqvists, quicks are drafted.
but they take time |

I would as well but I feel his development won't be hindered taking the USHL route, Oilers have the depth so he doesn't need to be rushed. |

Yeah, considering it takes goalies longer to develop than any other position, taking the 20 year old is not an awful idea. |

Sweet highlight reel of LD - CrustyRooster
sick.
the first couple plays where you see him use his size and strength as well as disgusting skillz is exciting.
some of the later ones just playing with defenders prob wont fly as much in the nhl. |

Yeah I agree. His puck protection is ridiculous. It's crazy how his no look passes find the perfect spot every time too |

Good snap shot too. Once he gets moving he does pick up good speed. Just has to work on explosiveness of his first couple steps. |

Anyone know if LD has some fight/grittiness to him? It would be good to get some toughness along with that skill. |

Foligno would be perfect here. I'd give up a 2nd? I wonder if the shadow of his father in buffalo affects anything? Maybe a change of scenery helps. Just speculating of course |

Has a bit of a mean streak when provoked from what I've read. French compared him to Malkim in that sense. Not an initiator like Bennett. |

i think he relies on his size and strength, but isn't really what we could consider "scrappy" or "gritty"
i think the guys we see as future comparables don't really either.
theyre just so strong and so skilled, that part of the game has never really been necessary |

A little bit. When he was 1st called up he absolutely dominated both physically and the stat sheet. Like Myers, he set a very high bar for the fans very early.
I suspect he'll bounce back this up coming year, he's got a nice two way game and decent speed but he's not going to put up the numbers like his dad.
That being said, after watching them take Lemieux, he may wind up being the odd man out. Lemieux, Larsson, Compher, Girgensons...his time may be up. I think you'd find a lot of fans who'd say yes to a 2nd for him, seems fair at this point. |

Mean streaks can be good as long as it doesn't lead to stupid penalties. |

I would be happy with a Perron type of player. Someone that can score make plays and stick up for his team mates. |

good post.
i saw him abit early on and i this was the impression i got.
i recall a game against edm in that time and was incredibly impressed. we didn't have an answer for him. he was physically dominant and was all around the net wreaking havoc it seemed.
but by all accounts hes leveled off abit.
like myers, if a guy has shown that kind of game once at that young, he can absolutely get back there. maybe he felt less pressure, different coaching etc. just gotta find out what it was.
if we could get him for a 2nd, id do it yesterday. a perfect fit in edm |

Edit: missed that bit for some reason, but bingo.
Myers managed to turn his game around because Nolan let him play his game instead of trying to change him, took the pressure off and started him off with some easier matchups.
I think whether Foligno stays here or gets dealt thats what he needs to get his confidence and game back, his name gave him a lot of un necessary pressure that most 3rd round picks don't usually get.
And yes fwiw I think he'd be a good fit for Edmonton. |

perron is a little rat. sticky, chirpy and get under opponents skin. strong and willing for his size too.
combine that with his level of skill and he's a pain to play against.
his skillset is very unique on our roster.
