Now it's just a question of whether or not he can clear waivers like he did last season. - tkecanuck341
Is McNabb in the same boat as Vey, or can he be recalled without clearing waivers if he doesn't make the team out of camp?
A guy who I play hockey with is a die hard Ducks fan... asked me how if I was scared now that the Ducks got Kesler. After thinking about it I told him I would be scared when they got a true top pairing defenceman. You guys think Anaheim is really that much better after adding Kesler and Thompson? I don't know Kesler seems to be good for 60 games before he falls apart... I think they are a better team after the trades but for some reason they don't scare me like Chicago does. |

You'd have to definitely be scared if they add a top 4 dman to that roster IMO. |

Agreed. As long as he's in a Ducks sweater I'll never like him, but man is Getzlaf good. Seems like one of the best captains in the league. |

It's almost surreal that our name isn't being mentioned in any rumor, speculation, or trades. It's just...odd. |

Omg why. - Ersberg
I read a couple people saying that it was for his loyalty and the work he did with the kids down at the AHL level. This way he's a job for two more years. If, or more likely when, the Kings send him down, he'll have to clear waivers. If he doesn't, he's still got a two year contract with another NHL club. If he's still around next offseason though he could full a spot left open if one of Regehr, Muzzin, or Martinez aren't still around. |

I get all of that, I just don't get why 2 years. Loyalty would have been if we had done everything to give Mitchell a deal. The last thing I want to see is Schultz taking a full roster spot. I don't want to give him a chance for us to regret it, to be honest. He's like a Randy Jones. I'd rather a kid take the #7 spot. |

I also read that he's the 8th Dman. I can't remember where I read it, but it was said he isn't going to be competing against McNabb for a spot. McNabb's spot is his to lose. |

That's great news, if accurate. I'd like to see McNabb get a good shot at it.[/img] |

I think Shultz fits the system and isnt much different than Regher or Greene in his style of play. I like Shultz and think he has potential in the Kings defensive system. I, for one, think that was a good signing and I hope he stays if he has to return to Manchester. Greene or Regher go down and he will fill their rolls pretty seamlessly.
I think McNabb has much more upside and feel like he will fill mitchells spot. Gotta love how Dean has dealt to maintain the same dynamic on the roster. He has great foresight. Why he hasn't won a GM of the year with us is BS. |

I like the move as well. If he gets sent down worst case scenario is that he's taken on waivers, which costs the Kings nothing. If he clears, he's insurance in case of injury. |

He's like Regher and Greene, minus the physicality aspect to our game. He's a mobile Lincoln Log. We need our defensive defenseman to play with an edge, which he does not. It's a plug re-signing at best. We could have replaced him outside of the system, but I guess it was easier to just re-sign him and call it a day. |
